1994 escort 5 speed, won't go into 1st or 3rd gears after replacing reverse light switch and changing tranny fluid. Gears 2,4,5 and reverse work fine. On first try reverse wouldn't go in, I discovered the washer on the old switch and with it back in reverse works again. Changed out the fluid since much drained out anyway, refilled from the speedo. Now stick won't start into 1st or 3rd gears.

SOURCE: i only have 1st and 2d gears no drive or over

Most of the time it's going to be your speed sensor at the left side of your transmission towards the rear close to the endput shaft.
Check the wire and condition for any damages or corrosion.
If it's the sensor just un-clip the wire from the sensor and remove the sensor with the one bolt holding it in place.
Re-install new sensor and wire and top off transmission fluid as needed.
Before you get your hands all dirty have your blazer scaned at a parts store like Auto Zone, it's free and they have the how too do it your self instruction for any parts you need to replace.
Good luck and hope this helps, PS don't drive your Blazer to hard so you don't burn out the transmission.

SOURCE: transmission won't shift to 2nd and 3rd gears goes from 1st to 4th.

Doesn't sound like a simple fix. I would suggest having it serviced.

SOURCE: grinding gears from 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 5 ok

Either your clutch is getting bad, or you're shifting down too soon, and up too late. Try double clutching. Push in your clutch and push it into neutral. Release the clutch, fan the gas pedal, push the clutch again and shift into 1st. All this does is sychronize the speed of the transmission with the speed of the engine. There were, in the 60's, a lot of cars with the old "three on the tree" that you had to do this every time, and you get pretty good at it after a while.

1994 Cadillac Deville - won't shift into reverse after sitting overnight or for a couple of hours. Will shift into 1st and then will shift into reverse. What is causing this?

Check the transmission fluid level, reverse needs twice the pressure to activate that drive does. If low refill and try again. If fluid good, I`d say the tranny 3rd reverse clutch is worn out. Recheck the condition of the fluid on the dipstick, if it appears burnt or very dirty I`d still suspect internal tranny clutch issues. It also has a low reverse clutch, but goes into 1st gear as you said.

Automatic transmission has some buzz noise (like bee noise) when idle and when drives. Does not change gears (only 1st and 2nd no 3rd and 4th) Sometimes it changes through all gears. No problem in revers...

It sounds like clogged ports that allow fluid to go through. Reverse will most always work even when the entire tranny goes since it is it's own separate system. Try a flush, I don't normally advise that but it sounds like the way to go but I'm guessing a new tranny is in the very near future. Did you keep up on the fluid changes? Because those trannys in those mazdas usually go for a good 300k if kept up with maintenance.

Sorry but it sounds like it is trassmission time. you see the 3-5 gears work on another ration thatn 1& second they are on one shaft. the reverse is off in another world. sounds like one of the rods go stuck this is why the reverse lights stay on...

Hold your breath. It will be expensive but then on a manual I would see if the repair shop will find a used tranny. for 1/2 the cost..
