2002 Silhoutte - Red colored warning circle showing waves at bottom displayed on message center. What does it mean? Is it low oil pressure.

One of the forum sites I went to said it's for low coolant and that there is no indication in the owners manual.

1999 oldsmobil silhoutte sound like it boils when idling and cooling fluid looks a rusty color

Both--but you have to find out what problems
the motor has & make those repairs first, don't
use it if it overheated, even once, park it & work on it

Rusty in color-that's neglect & no preventative maintenance,
unless you just bought it, in which case you lay it up for a couple
weeks & go thru it

Transmission filter van 1999

i dont think so.. you need a wide drain pan under it and start taking the pan screws out..one at a time..start at a lower corner.. work around the high side and back around..slowly allow the fluid to run as you go..it should drain about 3-4 quarts..

Where is the starter on the 1999 oldsmobile silhoutte

Under the front of the engine, where it meets the transmission...and under the motor mount. If you disconnect the negative cable from the battery and jack it up, it's relatively easy to gain access. If it's still in original condition, remove the 10 millimeter bolt that's holding the plastic cover. Then remove the bolts that go straight up. Wiggle the starter out and down and then disconnect the two wires. I hope I've helped. If so please rate my assistance and leave a comment to help others in a similar situation find their answer. Thanks for using Fixya.
