By chance, did it start idling rough while you had the defroster on, or the A/C? This is a very common problem after the battery is disconnected AND the defroster or the A/C is on. The defroster uses the A/C to dry the air. To fix this, spend about $7 on a can of throttle body cleaner. Disconnect your battery again, and clean your throttle body. After finished, reconnect the battery and drive for about 5 miles with the defroster or A/C off, this will allow the computer to reset and relearn the newly cleaned throttle body. When you changed your battery, you computer reset and thought the throttle body was clean, therefore you get rough idling when the defroster or A/C is on.

I had a similar experience. Finally the car started overheating. Turned out the thermostat went bad and the radiator blew a leak. Had those replaced. Runs great.

Why does my 2004 Trailblazer run rough at stops and AC is on? Doesn't stall and temp. is fine. Also idle gage seems fine. It also sputters when shutting engine off. Just had the motor mounts...

ONe of the "easy" fixes is buy a can of throttle body cleaner. Remove the air intake near throttle boddy and clean the inside of throttle body as best you can this should help it. If it doesnt have it checked out it could be more advanced problem. Good Luck.

Battery changed on 2004 chevy trailblazer and now it stalls out and idles really rough...any solution

Sometimes the Computer [PCM] that controls the engine will loose it's memory on how you've driven it when power is removed. It should reset itself after a few miles of driving.

2004 Chevy Trailblazer idles rough. Idles ok when started up, but after warmed up it idles really rough when stopped.

If it has not pulled any codes (idiot light). Clean your throttle body, and change your spark plugs with A/C Delcos #41-103, most other brands will cause rough idle like Autolites and Bosch. This would be a cheap way to fix this problem.

If by chance you have just recently changed the battery or had the battery unhooked. Let me know, it's an easier fix that costs virtually nothing.

My 2002 Trailblazer idles rough with the AC or defrost on when stopped. It rides fine while the car is moving. I changed my battery a couple of months ago and then the problem started. Thanks for your help

I would suggest having the Alternator checked for the proper amp output. Although it may be making enough power to keep the battery charged, it may not be making enough to power the vehicle and still be the reason the engine performs rough at low RPM's under accessory load.

ROUGH IDLE

Did you replace the plugs with the same plugs (Manufacturer) as the plugs you had in there. Some cars are very picky with plugs. ie: some Japanese cars will only run well with NGK Spark Plugs. Try to use only what Subaru recommends in your engine for the best performance.
