How do you know if your lighting module is bad in a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora?

A

If your tail lights and your dash lights dont work but you brake lights do you might check to see if its the lighting module located just above the brake pedal.

YOU CHECK THE FUSE BOX LOCATED UNDER REAR SEAT

  • Anonymous Jul 15, 2008

SOMETIMES ITS JUST A FUSE IF BOTH WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME OR IF YOU DONE SOME ELECTRICAL WORK DONE LIKE A RADIO OR ALARM THE I WOULD CHECK THE CONNECTIONS

SOURCE: DASH LIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS NOT WORKING

There seems to be a unwritten rule that the tail lights are on the same wire as the dash board lights ... if you have no dash board lights, neither do you have tail lights. There is a blown fuse somewhere, your job is to find the wire causing the trouble and it is likely at a most inconvenient place near a hinge.

Good luck with your repair.

SOURCE: Taillight problems

are there any other accs. not working? fuse may look good but might not be getting good contact, make sure fuses are seated tightly. check for voltage at the lights with meter to be sure.

SOURCE: my dash taillights dont work on my 1997 nissan

Turn on the hazard switch to check if the bulbs light up. If they do, the problem is probably with the headlight switch itself.

Headlights work but not taillights what is the cause and how do i fix it?

First you need to determine if all lights in the back are out or just brakes lights or tail lights. Check fuses, taillights will have their own fuses. Could be a bad dash switch, which would be evident if brake lights work but not taillights.

Looking for wiring diagram for dash lights 1986 montero

Find where the ground wire for that left taillight grounds to the body remove the screw and clean that ground, otherwise if the taillight assembly uses a printed circuit could be a break in the printing, replace the whole assembly if thats whats going on.

Anyone know anything about the wiring for a Ford Falcon XR6? Rear lights do not work including number plate light, fuses and relays all appear good, but strangely enough when I pull the rear lights fuse...

seems that taillights and dash lights are on the same circuit, they did that years ago so that if your dash lights went out you knew that you had no taillights, chech the grounds for the taillights, and check for voltage at the socket, from there its a search for broken wires

Dash and running lights does not work, everything

The fuse to the taillights/running lights?
It can't be a grounding problem if both taillights and dash don't work.
If only taillights don't work, it would be suspicious grounding.
