Today when I was driving home all I the lights on

My guess is the cluster is running bulb tests. It may be getting a start signal from the bcm. This is hard to troubleshoot. You will need a very good mechanic to properly diagnose.

I want to plug in my i pod. do i have to get something put in to have this done?

you need an AMI interface cable, and of course the AMI interface itself. You can check the options list of you Audi at myaudi.de, sign up for an account and register your chassisnr//VIN nr. You will be able to see the factory installed standard equipment including extra options. If you're lucky this cable will do:" Part Number: 4F0051510P

Adaptor set comprising 1x adaptor for iPod/iPhone and 1x adaptor for USB for the connection to the Audi Music Interface. The ipod adaptor cable provides power and intuitive control of the device through the MMI and multi-function steering wheel."

It will plug in to the glovebox, there is a connector in the back (although it should originally be in the centerconsole in some cars). Will cost you about 50 GBP or US$64.

If there is no AMI interface installed, you're out of luck and you will need to do the AMI retrofit, you will need these parts:

(1) 4L0 055 307 A - Media unit wiring harness
(1) WSK 014 720 - Installation instructions
(1) 4L0 864 981 E 6PS - Media compartment
(1) 4L0 864 515 A 6PS - Cover
(1) 4L0 898 283 - Spring set
(2) WHT 001 250 A - Plastic pins
(2) N 906 986 06 - Torx screw (for media housing)
(1) 4L0 863 269 4PK - Protective piece
(2) N 909 187 01 - Torx screw (for protective piece)
(1) 4E0 057 785 XX - AMI control unit

This will set you back about US$ 800, and about 5 hours work.

check this link for instructions how to install this:

How to connect my bluetooth to my 2007 audi a4 q , how to connect my ipoh to it also , in the book it talk about interface but i cant find anything in my car.

the "interface" is the wire supplied by the maker of your ipod to connect into the socket in the car.(here in Europe you have to buy a "parrot" to "interface with the radio for the phone as not all phones are compatible.)

Where is the Audio Aux jack in the 2005 Jetta? What do you need to connect? The salesman told me it had the MP3 player ready to use. Maybe that was my first mistake....

It is not in the vehicle , if you have the external cd changer,
the cd changer can be unplug, to install the auxiliary audio input,
this is what you need volswagen aux interface

for ipods use this ipod interface full ipod controls from the volkswagen radio

I want to hook my IPod directly to the aux port of my radio and I want it to charge the iPod as well as play the music. Is there a cable that does both music input and power charging? I have a 2001 Tahoe...

You can get a Peripheral PXDX and connect it to you AUX port on the back of you radio. The interface can be tucked behind the dash with the docking cable being the only part hanging out-to connect your ipod to. You can change songs from your radio control head-or steering wheel controls-if your vehicle has them. The docking station charges your Ipod while it's connected. Peripheral has a website you can read about the interfaces. They are available on ebay for under $100. I have the interface in two of my vehicles. The only problem is, you can't see which track is playing on your radio, but you are able to skip through tracks either by Ipod control or radio head.

2000 Audi A4 stereo system

Yes. I know of two units out there: Denison's IceLink, and the Phatnoise box (or Phatbox, as some call it). I believe both install the same way. You figure out where you want the iPod connector (say, glovebox). Pull the stereo out of the dash, disconnect the CD changer (you'll lose the changer function with these but who cares?), and plug the adapter cable into the changer's port. It'll allow the iPod to play through the factory stereo, and will allow you to control the iPod with the buttons on the factory stereo.
