Whats wrong with my jaguar x-type 2003 after i start the car then drive off the amber light says cruise control not working,, then it also stall's or hessitates when trying to excellerate or pass another car.

I have exactly the same problem on mine-you explained perfectly,i was told i need to change the cruise control computer.I recently had the thermostat changed and the mechanic wiped the engine sign off that was triggered by the cruise control not available sign coming on-when he did this it took about a month for the problem to recur so i think the probelm is definately electrical not mechanical or it would have happened straight after he wiped the engine sensor light.could be air mass sensor could be cruise control computer-when i get some money i'll get it done

The cruise i dont know but the missing sounds like a mass air flow sensor ,if its too expensive to repair then look on autotrader.co.uk and you can pick another one up for about 1000pounds ,or a caddy 2001 4.6 litre perfect condition for 900pounds or a 2000 explorer auto 4 litre for 550pounds ,best of all a 1.9 diesel polo manual 1999 for 3000 pounds
