Glow plugs light flashes on dashboard when driving golf estate mk4 diesel

you need a new Glow Plug

dear . you have water mix with diesel . dont start again . replace diesel filter connect fuel from out side , if you find injector cleaner try use it , after replace fuel filter try to put 50mm engine oil in fuel line . for lubricate and remove rusty.

you have a bad engine earth

hello paul,check your brake pedal sensor very common fault ,if brake sensor gone glow plug light flashes,had same problem on my caddy

If I'm not mistaken in the MK4's (2000 and up vdubs) if your glow plug light is flashing there is a fault in the system you should get it service asap. It won't hurt by driving it like this but it will be harder to start on cold days/mornings.

thats the heater coil symbol for the diesel engines.
does it stay solid at beginning as normal?
if the car drives normal, then maybe its just a loose connection/wire somewhere

Check the glow plug thermo sensor...found in the cylinder head.
Unlightly anything wrong with injector pump.

they are giving you bad advice... that light is basically normal ... your glow plug light... if the motor starts ok ... it's nothing to worry about .... unless i've missed something and you are saying the light stays on... basically with a diesel you turn the key on... wait for the glow plug light to go out ... then start it.

From the brief description of your problem I'm guessing your vehicle is a Diesel? as the light you refer to sounds like the Glow Plug warning. When you turn on the ignition from cold the light comes on for around 5 to 10 seconds and then you start engine Yes?
If the light is coming on after vehicle is warmed up the glow plugs will upset the combustion and ruin your performance, so I would be looking at glow plug timer fault.

this is going to sound nuts but its true.if your brakelight switch is defective that light will flash.
see if you brake lights are working.if it is automatic trans you will notice the shifter will not always release when you depress brake pedal.
if its not brakelight switch get it autoscaned with a VAG.com
