I don't know what you mean by, "I plugged it back up". Did you mean that the harness unplugged or that a wire came out of the plug? Inspect the fuse-box. Look for a blown fuse. You can try disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds. If the stock stereo has the anti-theft feature, remember to disable it first. If a wire did in fact break away then you will need to do more than just push the wire back into place. Please write back with any questions or status, good luck.
What you should know is the EGR valve is an Extended Warranty part under Federal Pollution guidelines. While the mileage and age of your vehicle may have exceeded the Warranty period of the original Factory part, there are some guarantees on the replacement part depending on the brand.
That said, it is The EGR that is the victim rather than the cause of your problem. Overheating of the EGR is the likely cause of the cracking. The EGR is not apparently opening fully or at all.
This is a problem. Because the onboard computer should be monitoring the various switches that control the opening and closing of the EGR valve.
I would suggest having the passages to the EGR valve cleaned. Have the Vacuum lines to the EGR valve checked for routing between switches. Incorrect routing of the Vacuum lines can also cause poor acceleration.
Smoking, EGR valve failure, etc can be a clogged Exhaust system too!
Before buying another EGR see if you are eligible for a free replacement.
Have a compression test done to verify engine health and replace the sparkplugs at that time.
Sounds like the fuel filter is getting clogged. It will flow enough fuel for normal driving, but can't supply fuel for full throttle acceleration, causing the engine to bog down. Replacing the fuel filter with a new one should fix the problem.
On top of the engine find the fuel rail, unplug the vacuum line that is on the pressure regulator and see if it is leaking fuel. if it is that is your problem, it is sending raw fuel into your intake.
My 94 Jimmy had similar problems, until the dirty EGR valve was replaced. We tried a million things, first. But the improvement with the new EGR valve has HUGE.
you could check the fuel pump i recently had some problems with my punp after i replaced it where i would get to 3k rpms and it would sorta shut down and wouldnt go past it untill i let off the pedal
make sure you are starting out in 1st gear. If this is a power problem, and the MIL dash light is on, codes have to be checked with a scanner. If it is high miles the egine may be done. If you are not familiar with car repair, you will have to have it looked at by a mechanic.
One simple check is the air filter. Make sure it is not clogged. Another possiblity is a clogged catiletic converter or muffler.
