Duct on the back of the alternator Alternator mounting bolts. Torque the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm). Upper front bolt. Torque the bolt to 35 ft. lbs. (47 Nm). Rear bracket to the engine. Im assuming the alternator your replacing is on a v6 statesman.
1.disconnect battery
2.remove engine cover
3.remove drive belt
.remove 10mm bolt that holds bracket from eng to alternator
4.remove all wiring from the rear of alternator.
5.remove the 2 bolts that holds the alternator to engine.
6.wiggle alternator and it will slip out.;
7.refit new alternator in these steps but reversed.
8.once up and running again please make sure you check the system charge rate..

How do I remove an altinator from a 2004 ford escape.

Hello there,
To replace the alternator in your car:
Open the Escape's hood, and examine the belt-routing diagram on the fan shroud. This will show you the location of the alternator and the serpentine belt tensioner.
Pull the serpentine belt tensioner away from the serpentine belt with the serpentine belt tool far enough to allow you to dislodge the belt from the alternator pulley with your other hand.
Unplug the wiring harness from the back of the alternator by hand. Remove the ground harness from the alternator with the socket set.
Unbolt the alternator from the alternator bracket with your socket set. Lift the old alternator out of the bracket by hand.
Compare the old alternator to the replacement alternator before installing the replacement. Make sure they're both physically identical before continuing. If not, take them both to the parts store to match up a proper replacement.
Set the replacement alternator in the alternator bracket by hand. Bolt it in with the socket set. Plug the wiring harness in by hand and bolt the ground harness to the back of the alternator with the socket set.
Install the serpentine belt on the replacement alternator in reverse of how you removed it from the old alternator.

I paid $650.00 to replace my alternator in my 2004

I just got my alternator replaced yesterday 6/29/10. I paid $216 for the alternator from autozone and $191 for 2.5 hours of labor. If I would have replaced the alternator with the factory replacement the alternator would have costed about a $100 more. I is a complicated job. The mechanic that replaced my alternator said the he had to remove the right wheel and the right wheel axle in order to have enough room the remove the alternator. The most eye opening thing my mechanic told me was he think it is a design flaw that the alternator is so close to the catalytic converter which causes the alternator to get extremely hot. Under those conditions in time that will shorten the life of the alternator.

1992ford ranger -alternator dont charge battery

If there is power to the big wire that is bolted on to the back of the alternator and no power out of the small wires that plug in to the alternator then it is possible you need to replace your alternator. start the vehicle and check to see if there is 14 volts at the battery while the vehicle is running if there is then the alternator is good if not replace your alternator and charge your battery with a charger to make sure you have a proper charge on the battery.
