2000 Hyundai accent. Trunk open warning light on dash looking to disable this warning on dash to prevent draining battery again. Have removed light temporarily from the trunk to slow down the drain however circuit still shows trunk open light. Tried pulling 10 and 20 amp fuses from fuse box in the driver side compartment.

You should have a switch in the trunk area or on the trunk latch it makes contact to ground to turn on the light in trunk if you disconnect the switch should take care of it temporarily.

SOURCE: 2000 2 door accent removed

you have to reset the ecm code , when you removed the fuse the ecm registered this as a loss of voltage and threw a code so now it doesn't know that the fuse has been replaced. you need a scan tool to reset the ecm...please rate the solution...thanks

SOURCE: trunk stuck open

Is the lid bent? If not, the hinges are. You will likely need to remove the offending hinge, straighten it and then replace it.

SOURCE: trunk open light on dashboard

the light works with a pin switch that is pressed when the trunk is closed, find the switch in the trunk and remove it to see if the earth wire is connected.
if it is just pull it off and clean the connection. This should be a quick fix.You can also clean the rear light connections and make sure there are no bare wires.Hope this helps.

Hi, You will have to pop the trunk open and pull some of the carpeting away to acsess the light assembly. Then just turn the socket and the bulb should come out. Replace with same bulb size and watts. Good luck.

Battery drains when sits hydundai gl accent 2000

HI. Here is a procedure I use to isolate a battery drain. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Using a 12-volt test light, hook one end to the negative battery post the other end to the negative battery cable you just disconnected. The test light will glow or "light" if there is a drain. If the "light or glow" is faint, that is probably normal draw for the clock or computer. If the "light or glow" is bright, this will indicate a large drain is present. That should be corrected, asap. Now start removing and replacing the fuses one by one until the light goes out; The one fuse that causes the light to shut off, will be the circuit with the drain. Remember to close the car doors, when testing. If not, the interior doom light will interfere with the results of the test. ..

I recently bought a re-conditioned alternator for my hyundai accent 2000 but it is still draining battery told it was wiring problem cant fix it

Chking for a power robbing short.

turn everything off in the car, remove keys from ignition. open hood and make sure there is not a dome light on in the cab or, one under the engine compartment hood. these must be off so the is not power be drawn from the battery. Remove the neg terminal from the post and the lightly touch it back to the battery post for just a second. If you see a arc, then you more then likely have a short in the electrical system and will need a tech to track it down. You could pull fuses1 at a time and then redo the arc check to narrow the system envolved with the short.

Warning light

Usualy the check engine light reports a malfuction in your engine performance system, it coulb be a misfire, bad sensors, vaccum leak, you need to have your engine code read from a garage or an auto parts store that offers the service for free.

Trunk open light on dashboard trunk light on all time. goes off when applying brakes 2004 accent

Well I took it to a trusted mechanic and unfortunately for me it was not the switch in the trunk. The switch for the accent trunk light is built into the trunk latch which would be easy to fix, but I knew that because of the light going off when you press the brake it had to be a short somewhere, which it did turn out to be. Too bad we couldn't actually find the short, it is probably something rubbing on a gound somewhere. I actually just took the bulb out of the dash behind the trunk open indicator so it wouldn't drain my battery.
