I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla, only 17k miles, bought from Carmax in mid-2007. My check engine light came on, had it checked, and it read P2716 - Pressure control solenoid D electrical fault. Probable causes open or short circuit condition, poor electrical connection, and failed shift solenoid valve SLT. Can I get the electronic control computer replaced at no charge under the federal emissions warranty?

DTC P2716 - Pressure Control Solenoid "D" Electrical (Shift Solenoid Valve SLT)

If you need to test this electrical components and wiring. Tell me if you need the TSB about this DTC.

  • acharyas791 Dec 29, 2010

I'm not sure what the TSB is. Technical Service Bulletin? I would appreciate it very much if you would include it so I can take it with me to the repair people. Thanks again.

Code P2716

There is a known issue with the 2005-2007 Corolla automatic transmission shift logic. The shift points may seem harsh, and the Check Engine light may be illuminated.

There is a technical service bulletin published (TC015-07) that will address and rectify this condition.

The diagnostic code P2716 will be stored in the computer memory. The procedure involves replacing the Engine Control Module (the computer) with an updated unit.

The repair is covered, under the factory warranty, for 96 months, or 80,000 miles, which ever comes first.

I hope that this helps Corolla you out.

P2716 pressure control solenoid d 2005 toyota corolla 117000 miles check engine light on

This is very common on Matrix/Corollas and is repairable by way of replacement PCM to correct invalid parameters. the labor is low but the part is very expensive.

Expect approximately $89 or less in labor, and $648 for the new PCM

Pressure Control Solenoid P2716 toyota matrix issue

There is currently a recall going on for this problem. You can likely get your money back on the prior repairs as well. See this link http://www.toyota.com/recall/corolla-matrix.html. On the left-hand side, you can click to take you to put in your VIN and see if your vehicle is included. My 2007 vehicle IS included, and I just had the check engine light come on and have been experiencing rough shifting for about 6 months. When the light came on yesterday, it was extremely rough jerky shifting. The light went off today. Took it to Autozone and got same code P2716. Toyota has assigned me a case number, but I won't get a call back until Monday or by close of biz on Tuesday. This problem can cause your car to not start, or to shut down while driving. YIKES! The person I talked to at Toyota acted a little too nonchalant about the whole deal. Telling me to just wait for the call that I will get. She said most dealers would not have the part needed to fix this. According to what I have read. That is the reason why Toyota is not sending out the notification letters to the affected parties until mid-September. Check out all the info and good luck. I am a little bit p.o'd about this right now. - Natalie

Pressure Control Solenoid D electrical fault (P2716)

There is a Bulletin on this concern, and it is a warrantable condition for 8 years or 80,000 miles so you are still covered by the factory warranty.
The problem is a logic issue in the PCM. The correction is a new PCM with updated software.
