I don't know about this particular car, but you may have a relay problem as all the functions on main lights are done by relays due to the high current required, I would say your fuses are okay as you can get all the lights lights to work using a different control relay - if I have understood you correctly.

Testimonial: "thank you very much. perhaps you can tell me where and which relay that might be"

I do not have the exact info for your car but normally the headlight control relays are found in the main fuse/relay box in the engine department. They will be shown in your handbook under electrical. sorry cannot be of further help. (you may find further info on a jaguar forum)

Bright headlights won't turn on. We bought it use and we don't know how to turn them on. (They may not even work)

your hi/lo switch is mounted to the steering column under the dash. It operates by pulling on the signal wand--a rod going down the column pushes the switch off and on. If nothing happens when you pull back on the wand, check to make sure the rod is still in the switch and is moving down on the switch whenm you pull back on the wand. If that mechanism is good, the switch is probably bad. I have pasted a picture of the switch below. The cost is about $12 at autozone.

If the rod is not actuating the switch, someone will need to take the steering wheel off and take the column apart until reaching the actuating linkage to see what's wrong.

I removed the headlight switch and the markerlights stayed on and the left headlight oh the markerlight are on the left side to

Is the Wiring still disconnected from the switch?
If so, there is a contact of the Harness wiring when you left it loose. Not all models isolate accessory power suplies when the Ignition is switched off.

Left side marker lights stay on and headlight on left side stays on very dim

you need to trace wires first cause there is a wire grounded over somewhere, could possibly be in the headlight switch

Need to get brights working on Corsica 1994

There is not a separate fuse for the high and low beam headlights. When you pull back on the dimmer switch do you hear it click? I am betting that you don't and this would lead me to believe that the dimmer switch is either defective or out of adjustment.

Xj8 instrument lights not on when headlights on

Make sure the dash lights aren't turned down first of all. I know that sounds basic, but I've seen it happen before. Believe the twist is near the knob to adjust the steering wheel which is lower steering column left hand side. Otherwise, I would check fuses to be sure. finally, the last thing I would do it pull the gauge cluster and check connections as well as bulbs.

Headlights

Everything relating to do with the wiring is in the steering column, if someone has cut the wires going into the column and taped them back together in order to pull the steering column out for service the wiring needs to be replaced. the good news is if that is your problem it will cost you no more that about 30 dollars to fix it, the bad news is you have to pull the column to replace it. I hope that shines some light on it for you.

1988 Jaguar Vanden replace headlight

What you need to do is remove the 2 screws on the top bezel from inside the engine bay, then underneath the outer corner of the plastic headlamp surround there is a philips screw, (put your head under neath car near from wheel) loosen the screw, do not remove it, now the headlamp plastic bezel/surround will come free enough so you can get a philips screwdriver in through the middle of the headlamp surround, there is a chrome retaining ring holding the headlamp in place, loosen the 3 philips screws (do not remove) The retaining ring will rotate and you can slide the ring out from the outer edge of the headlamp surround. The headlamp will then come out throught the middle of the surround, disconnect the 3 pin multiplug and reverse process for install.
