I need to know how to put freon to my 1996 dodge stratus and also where to put it and what type of freon do i need ? thank you
You can get a can of R134a with a detachable/reusable hose that includes a pressure guage. Some of the newer brands that advertise "colder faster" are actually worth the extra cash.
When you lift the hood of your car, the refrigeration lines are on your left hand side. A silver tube is sticking up near the back but in easy reach with a black screw on cap. Simply unscrew the cap and save it for replacement later. The hose will attach easily and follow the directions on the can (typically you move the can in some form while pulling the trigger to add gas.) Make sure the car is running and the A/C is on max.
Remember to watch the pressure guage and release the trigger any time the pressure gets near the red line. It may take a few cycles of pulling the trigger and then releasing to get it to fill completely.
Most auto parts stores and hardware stores have kits to refill your system. The instructions will show and tell you where and how to connect it. I would strongly suggest you get one with a gauge to make sure you don’t over fill. And a kit that includes the oil.
