Well something is either cutting off the spark or the fuel soon after starting. Myself I would suspect a fuel starvation issue. Before you go spending a lot of money have someone trouble shoot it. If fuel it could be a pump, filter, or pressure regulator. Makes sense to know which before you go replacing parts.

When problem is ongoing, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs-- proper fuel pressure and fuel injector, where applicable. If engine is hot, wear gloves, that's what I do. If your missing everything, have to check pickup soil and ignition module in distributor. If you narrow it down to one system, then you can concentrate on that system, fuel--spark--whatever.

1992 firebird dies after a few minutes. Had earlier codes - replaced ignition sensor. MAP sensor, O2 sensor, oil sending sensor, new distributor, new spark plugs & wires.. Will sometimes start right...

The Crank Position Sensor dirty or cracked can cause all of this...your parts store should be able to help you locate...not to expensive...hope this helps.

Engine will run fine for a few minutes then cut off.

If you have good spark at the plugs then it is vacuum or fuel.
1 vac listen for hiss in the few min it runs
check lines for damage, splits, unhooked etc. don't forget under car and dash

2 check fuel pressure, check for fuel delivery to the cyl. remove spark plug crank and check small look for fuel. remove coil wire so it won't start on you.

(if engine is good, not overheated )
its only 1 of 2 things.
lost spark (do a spark test using , yes, a test good spark plug)
if spark is good on all cyl
then check fueling, if spark plugs not soaked in fuel (tips)
then try test fuel.
if soaked, the op guide says, hold throttle fully open (depressed 100%) this cuts INJECTIONS 100% and you start a flooding motor)

When driving suddenly the engine cuts out.

I heave the same problem on my Corsa B 1.0 2000, engine cuts out, and whe it happens, I hear one of the relay under the right side of the dash buzzing. After a couple of minutes, starts like nothing happend.
So far I manage to find that the speed sensor is faulty, when I tap him the car stops. I order a brand new one, but I'm not sure that was the issue.
I order also a Opel Tech2 tester from ebay and it has to arrive next week, then I can see the error code.

Even though the plugs are "new" it can get fouled out. Soon as you put in a new set, one could go bad on start up. The plug wire could have hit a hot surface and burned into the insulation causing a spark jump. You can check the wire by holding a screwdriver in the spark plug end and holding it 1/4' from a metal surface. Have someone to turn the engine over to see if you have a nice blue looking spark jumping from the screwdriver to the metal. Also, at night start the engine and look under the hood for any sparks jumping from the area. you could also have a misfiring injector but I would put that at the end of list.

I would check for jumping sparks first, then install a new plug in #2. Right now you would only be out of $2 for the plug.

Cold Start Emission Reduction Control System

There are several things that few people know about starting cars in cold weather. 1. Check your battery to make sure it is not rusted, leaking, and has a charge 2. Jump start your battery with another car, even if you believe the battery is good, this often times will still start your car. 3. If your engine is cold, and you have an older car, ensure to get your fuel lines to the engine flushed or have fuel injection service performed 4. The engine tends to warp the same way wood does during the extreme cold, do not be afraid to continue trying to warm up the engine by constant cranks with it is cold out. Your not going to hurt the car, the worse that could happen is too much fuel will enter the carborator and cause flooding in the system to occur. Wait 20 minutes if this happens and start to crank again 5. Bad spark plugs are a major reason why many cars take a very long time to start 6. Please have your spark plugs removed and exchanged for new ones. Over time, spark plugs become fowled and prevent the car from starting even thou you hear cranking!!!
