Pull the carpet back in the right hand foot well, reach behind the foot well side plate on the right and you will find a black, cylindrical device with a rubber top. Press down on the rubber top with your finger and the device is then reset

2000 GMC Sierra 4.3 turns over but no fire?

fuses good< oops
scan the PCM see errors cranking OMG it tells you why:? sure can.
forgot the 6 new spark wire plug set, replaced 1 by one never all at once, 6 new OEM type spark plugs and gaped correctly
22 year old spark parts are no good ever.
test for spark on all 6 yet, spark is 1st or there can be no FIRE.

4.3L cranks but will not start and run and stay running.(problem1)
fire cant be seen, but spark can.
1,2,3 engine, spark, fuel good 1,2,3 in that order
spark and fuel can not run a dead engine, so 1 is first engine'
compression good 150psi up not lower, all near same
next is spark if EFI sees spark
actual fuel pressure not told just OKay. pressures matter big time in EFI, and at cranking for sure. then idle and WOT later.
engine is free running so all tests are safe, cranking too.
the service manual covers all fuel checks cranked, balance test and leak down tests.

If you replace a neutral safety switch on a 1998 Cabrio Volkswagen 2.0 l engine and it still does the same thing what is the next step

VIN ? (USA car?)
what is the problem ("still does the same thing", does WHAT? (wrong or good or both)
did you add wireless remote starter on this car,
did it fail before or after the ADD.
THE real KEY SWITCH FAILS TO CRANK THE ENGINE.
IS THE STARTER MOTORS DEAD AND SILENT?
FIRE to Solenoids?, gets 12vdc power not fire, a voltmeter measures all this if you use one., there is no FIRE there ,it's voltage (power)

surely no 98 car came with factory remote start, (SM says NO)
so there is a story to tell but not told
nor full symptoms told , using a normal key or this wireless secret device./< none told.
worse yet cars with IMMO, the manual tell us flat out, not compatible with remote starts (none-OEM)\

there are no 2 aftermarket (non-OEM) remote start kits the same.
for sure safeties..
IMMO rules VW

VW is 1999 or earlier and sold in North America, it shouldn't have an immobilizer.
but
If your car has the yellow car/key symbol on the instrument cluster (shown activated below) it has an immobilizer.
as you can see a 1998 car is just blow,1999 start year
some cars made after July 1st,1998 have 1999 opitions.
so nobody guess what is there in your car , factory options
Most IMMO cars do not allow lacks the car starting and running systems. (it THINKS you are hacking it) see?

read here carefully about IMMO.

https://www.myturbodiesel.com/d2/1000q/multi/immobilizer-VW-Audi-FAQ.htm

note: from there, (immo on this car is very odd)
Cabrio and Eurovans have no immobilizer warning light and the immobilizer module is separate from the instrument cluster.
that means no cute carbody+key lamp is there in the cluster.
for easy immo discovery.
outside USA IMMO happened sooner and not told you ,your country.

a good aftermarket IMMO maker If this is the topic, NOT TOLD
may have LED status lamps to tell what input is failing
this is key(no pun) to the solution, failed.
and a manual for the IMMO telling how to troubleshoot.
a voltmeter is always used, if savvy tech, a $15 tool.
the IMMO can block
cranking
and spark then fuel.
immobilized.
so can remote starts, OEM remote starts block cranking for a huge list of things, even doors not closed/locked, tranny in gear, or PCM errors.
or TCM errors. and more, remote starts are dangerous.

EF ford on gas cranks but will not fire have changed coil pack and have power to the main loom (plug) to coil pack

Check crank position sensor or cam position sensor if applicable. Is it actually sparking? If so either its not being told when to fire or there is something else telling it there's no fuel etc. Check the relay box for fuel relay etc.

Does a 1987 Ford, 302 have a crank sensor?

Hi Brad,
That unit does not have a crank sensor per say the PCM is told where #1 cylinder is by a short air gap in the Distributor that goes by the Stator and that tell the ignition when to fire. I hope this helps you Brad!!!!!

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee will not start i broke down on the road and had it towed away, they called me and told me it was the idle that got reset, so i went and picked it up it ran for a day then it...

Can't tell you what it is without testing, but you need to check the crank position sensor and fuel pump. Both will cause it to stall and, when they cool down, it will re-start.
Easiest way to check pump is to turn the key on and listen at the tank. If you can't hear it running, it's not.

Was told cam postion sencor might be bad? Replace not it! now was told my autozone guy might be crank sencor? But need a pix or something i can't find it? your help is needed! Thank you Darren

well i dont know what year is but the crank position sensor is locate it behind crank pulley in order to have acces to the sensor you ne to remove the pulley first. Note when the crank sensor is bad there should be no fire at your sparks. before keep spending more money dont know if you checked for gas coming to the engine.
