The check engine was always on, then it started blinking all the time and running rough. i had it hooked up to a diagnostic tester and said both oxegen sensors were bad, i replaced both and the check eng. still stayed on all the time. 2 wks. later the battery died, so i jumped it it ran fine for a minute then ran really rough like on 1 cyl.

When the light is on have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , do you know what they are ? Ignition system problem , coil's , plug wires if the vehicle has then . The check engine light code is probably for a engine misfire . Check Engine Light On
What you do when the engine light comes on is to stop the vehicle ---check the oil level and let it cool down then check the coolant level at the radiator. The engine light is the message to you that the CPU has found sensors /servos that have gone outside set parameters and your course of action then is to prove that the engine is safe then run the fault codes to find the recorded faults and fix them . use the code reader to reset the CPU to ensure that the faults are fixed.

Some tips for poor start and performance.
Low fuel pressure due to faulty fuel pump will give misfire codes due to fuel starving conditions. Have fuel pressure tested, preferably when running bad.

have a tune up done on your vehicle. it will need plugs wires. also you may want to take your vehicle up to a auto parts store and have them connect there diagnostic machine to it and see if it pulls any codes.
