I just purchased a 99 Grand Marquis about 2 wks ago. The car had been running fine until a few days ago. I cut the car off and locked the door while my friend was sitting inside. My friend then opened the door and got out. Everysince then the car won't start. Does the car have a kill switch on it or could there be another problem? Does the key to this particular make and model have a chip in the key? If somebody could please help me it would be greatly appreciated.
Your cars uses PATS. Try pulling the PATS fuse for a while and then replace it. https://static.cargurus.com/images/site/2013/08/23/07/17/pic-5108680967262243617-1600x1200.jpeg?_ga=2.20846648.1492343498.1497231883-1342197894.1496117145

To get inside the car .... Use the key in the lock cylinder, unlock the drivers door to get inside. You shouldn't have to reprogram the fob unless it or the keyless module was changed. There may be a blown fuse that supplies the keyless control module (check the owners manual for location). or wires that lead into the Drivers door may be damaged ... The keyless module is located inside the drivers door at the bottom behind the door panel ... do the unlock/lock and trunk release switches on the inside of the drivers door operate the locks and or trunk release? If so it is not the fuse ... and not the wires to it ... And it could be your BCM body control module, located in the dash board to right of your gas petal. Because the number entry keypad (code for that is on the inside of the right passenger trunk bracket arm) also doesn't work I assume it's not the key fobs themselves. Your 98 manual is correct for your car.

most cars have an oil pressure sensor that is tied into the fuel system that will shut off fuel pump if oil pressure is low. Ford is famous for having a yellow fuel pump cut off switch that activates in a collision - you need to locate and check this 1st

The best answer that you can get depends on how mechanically inclined you are and how bad your problem is on the car.
If you are lucky, you can buy a A/C gauge and minimum hoses and refill the system at the low pressure fill back by the firewall around the black oblong tank with the hoses on it. You follow the instructions and add Freon until you get a steady pressure in the correct temperature range. Too much is as bad as too little. On Fords, I have replaced the Low pressure switch first and been alright with the remaining Freon.in the system.
If you are not lucky, you may have to add oil to quiet a noisy compressor or you may have a bad electric clutch or leaking hose or component. There is a neat ultraviolet kit with leak detector, uv penlight, and enough juice to do 4 tests. It is available at Autozone. But you still have to fix the problem when you find it.
If your system is open, degassed, and you have to refill it you can rent a Vacuum motor to prime the system , you can do it at Autozone. It takes a significant deposit for the machine and then you get a full refund when you return the machine. Oreillys may have one too.
If you have friends or coworkers, they can tell you about the bad or good places for this service. It is really an unknown. About all you can look at is the Labor cost per hour. Good Luck

Mine started doing the same thing recently.......all I could find so far on the internet is something called a "light control module".......maybe this could be the problem?
