Ever notice that while driving that the car hesitates or refuses to go into gear? ... For automatic transmissions, you might notice that when shifting into drive or park ....Neutral and park gears no problem, but drive, 1st, 2nd and reverse engages ...
Jun 5, 2015 - When I put it in drive, and begin to drive away the transmission will put itself in neutral. When I slow back down, it will go back into gear.
hydraulic slay cyclinder needs bleeding. shift pressure senser bad ,filter need changing. to many what if s , have it checked. best way is to find out. tell them to let you know before major work may need to save money for repairs. If they charge to check it they should tell you what is wrong.
needs a new clutch ,its grabbing and not clearing properly ,do not use force to change gear as these vehicle dont like it the syncros break ,stop engine put in gear clutch down then start engine Cannot really answer the wear in the gearbox question without a drive though but from what you descibe i would say clutch but it could the syncros but not on all gears ,normally second goes then thrid and fourth then finally first .best bet is to get a local mechanic to have a drive and then post what he says on here by answering my reply then i will get it .
CHECK FLUID LEVEL MAKE SURE ITS CORRECT AND FLUID AND FILTER HAS BEEN CHANGED IF ALL IS GOOD. SOUND LIKE THE FORWARD CLUTCH HAS WORN BURNED CLUTCH PLATES OR ROLLER CLUTCH HAS DAMAGED ROLLERS MISSING SPRINGS.CHECK TRANSMISSION PUMP OIL PRESSURE FOR A STUCK PRESSURE REGULATOR.
when vw started to use the computer controlled gearbox system a criticism was the shift was very harsh,to counter this they made it rev slightly before changing.so that you know the system, try this out....without touching the gas.....put it in d and let the car accelerate to its max speed, stop, then use 1/3rd of gas (keep your foot still)and let it do the same...stop,then,if safe, put your foot to the floor, hard, notice when the car changes gear(revs/speed)then if you drive, only using the first1/3rd of the gas,the cars change pattern will alter to suit.......wierd it is.....
It could be the starter, is it high pitch screeching, metal against metal, sound? Or more of whine? If it's metal against metal, the teeth on the flywheel ring gear might be damaged. If it's a high whine you are probably hearing the electric motor part of the stater and the "starter drive" is bad. The stater drive is part of the starter, it's the gear that engages with the flywheel gear. It is a one way clutch, it is supposed to hold when the starter is turning the engine. But, freewheel when the engine starts so it doesn't over rev the starter motor. When the drive goes bad it freewheels both ways. If you think the flywheel teeth are damaged you could try turning the engine by hand a little, WITH THE KEY OFF! Sometimes you can put a wrench on the alternator pulley nut and turn the engine a little. This will move the damaged teeth away from the starter and it might work now. Good luck.
Ford : back the truck up 10ft put truck in neutral and disengage four wheel low. (You can't drive in four wheel low cause its a pulling gear and you won't do over 3-5 mph.)
Nissan: start truck see if it idles normal. If so rev motor and check throttle for sticking and check EGR valve make sure its not stuck open or malfunctioning when you drive it..
hello this could be a problem in the drive band from what you explained you can try a bottle of shifting treatment its possible it could be a port in the valve body stuck for drive if this doesnt help theres a good chance drive band is gone and tranny needs to be rebuilt goodluck
