Need to disable security system - 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Connie, you can't disable the security system because it is wired to other controllers like the engine controller and disabling it will cause the engine not to start and run. There is no reset button.
The problem could be the anti-theft system which would knock out the injectors and spark to the plugs.
If the security light is staying on, the problem could be the chip in the key.

It is tied into the pass-key system that disables your car as part of vehicle security. You would have to by pass the pass key system which would make it vulnerable to theft as any duplicate key or broken ignition could start the car. In my estimation if it ain;t broke don't fix it or you might wind up with an inoperable car. There is more than mechanics involved ...codes and software programmed into the bcm will disable the starter, pump and injectors.

you disable it you disable car theirs a reason its called a security system have another key cut

the security system is integrated into the body control module. to disable the system you would also disable alll the accessories in the car. may want to have the bcm checked for fault codes. chances are it may just be a switch in one of the doors that is bad.

passive disabling

First you get the code to see what is causing this. If their was a easy way to disconnect the security then it wouldnt be secure. But if you had a wiring diagrm what you would need to do is put a resister inline. All cars are different to deter thieves from doing this. One car my take 5ohm resister while another may be 15 or 20

there is not a way to disable it. you will need to get it towed.

You need to buy a remote key fob and have it programed.The factory security system can't be easly disabled.
