EPS stands for Electric Power Steering. Hyundais have electric power steering instead of belt driven pumps. But they still require power steering fluid, Check the fluid to see if it is low. That would trigger the signal to come on.

HARD AND STIFF STEERING

It won't hurt to drive it. Steering will just be stiffer without the power steering. Once you are moving, it will be easier to steer.
Don't know the problem, a shop will have to check it out. But it is okay to drive it.

Eps in hyundai accent 2007

EPS is Electronic Power Steering.

When the light comes on, it is a warning that the Electronic Power Steering system is having a problem.

The increased force you have to use, is because the EPS is not assisting you as much as it was before, if at all.

Here is a link to a video explaining the basic operation of the electronics at youtube.

First you have to check power steering fluid level, and if it's ok then you have to check power steering pump. If you have a EPS light on your dash, then you have to plug a ODBII diagnostic tool to read code and then interpret what the problem is.

My beetle just engine just went off while driving

Make sure the battery terminals are secure. Other than that I would guess there is an electrcal fault on the vehicle. I am not familiar with the beetle but think if I were driving your vehicle I would make sure all electrical connections were as they should be.
