clearing the code is done by using a scan tool to reset the ECM
As it still dies and the light is still on then I suspect that you changed the wrong sensor
possible that it should have been the crankshaft sensor and not the cam shaft sensor
the error code will not effect the engine/ transmission performance
it is just a report to show you where the problem is

if all drives ok leave well alone its only a old banger and not wirth spending money on

here r your trouble code meanings:
1) p0123-throttle position sensor circuit, high input.
2)p0117-engine coolant temperature circuit, low input.
3)p0118-engine coolant temperature ciurcuit , high input.

have coil packs checked,possibly incorrect length spark plug wires,will cause miss fire also

OBD Code 12 - No Distributor Reference Pulse (Diagnostic Test Active) The Engine Control Module-ECM uses the distributor reference pulse to calculate the engine speed. On newer engines, the Crank Shaft Position Sensor performs this function.

Symptoms:

OBD Code 46 - Pass-Key II System Error - Circuit out of Frequency Range The ECM receives a signal from the Pass-Key module. • Engine ping
• Lack of power

Common Problems:

• Faulty Knock sensor
• Poor connection at Knock sensor
