I have 2001 ford explorer sport trac and it keeps missing. Also a problem that sometimes it doesn't want to idle and other times it cuts off on me at a stop light or stop sign. We replaced all the spark plugs, spark plugs wires, new head gasket, and fuel n carbartor cleaner in it. Nothing has helped.

A misfire isn't a very good description - constant, intermittent, under load, light throttle or what?

Most misfires under load are ignition related and the checks aren't finished until the spark power has been tested...

Simply put, it's either and mechanical problem or electrical problem. Check your basic systems, Fuel pressure, timing, idle speed, vacuum in inches, read error codes, and so forth. So about is systematically. No sure why you did head gasket unless you had a compression issue or water in the cylinder or similar issue. Stretched timing belt/chains can cause timing to be off too.

Wow your kidding me it's 1 of 3 things vacuum lines broken ///idle air control valve //// throttle position sensor the check engine light should've been on unless it was and you left it that way till it burned out have the codes read at auto zone then disconnect both battery cables and see if the codes come back after driving for about 50 miles also when you first turn the key to on not start or crank do you see the check engine light lit if not the bulbs burnt out and how come the codes were never attempted to be read before ?this is very obvious and I have to ask who's doing your work oh boy what a rip anything sets codes oh well have fun

Look in the owners manual and see if they have a circuit breaker or relay instead of a fuse. It could be bad and you would not see it.
