CAR RUNS GREAT.WHEN YOU SHUT IT OFF IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP.BUT IF YOU SHUT IT OFF FOR 10 OR MORE MINS THEN TRY TO START IT .IT WONT START.I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.AFTER REPLACING SENSOR I STARTED IT AND DROVE IT FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR.IT RAN PERFECT.I GOT HOME SHUT IT OFF AND THEN STARTED IT AGAIN WITH NO PROBLEM.I DID SOME THINGS IN THE HOUSE THEN WENT BACK OUT TO START IT AND IT WOULDNT START.IT TURNS OVER BUT WONT START.ITS A 89 REGAL CUSTOM 2.8.

THE FUEL PUMP GOT TO RUN FOR 3 SECONDS WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY ON , MAKE SURE IT RUNS LISTEN IN THE TANK. IF IT DON'T YOU NEED A COMPUTER......DID YOU CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER ??CHECK IT....

Check battery cable on the + side. There may be 2 cables sandwiched together on the + lug. One runs the computer and the other is everything else. Mine was loose and car would die.
Check your coolant level and overflow bottle for proper fill. Or try running it With radiator cap loose to see if it still stalls. If it still stalls and coolant levels are good you need to check temp sensor. May be more than One. If you did install a new one, it may have been faulty or damaged. If all that fails then try an idle positioning sensor. The spring may be worn.

try turning the ignition on try to start then without shutting key off wait 10 mins then shut key off then back on but do not try starting leave on for ten mins then back off turn key back on to run but do not try starting it wait ten mins then if it reset it should crank over and start if not repeat all steps again
