How many miles are on it, if you biuld one it will cost alot with no warranty or you can buy a crate motor from gm with awarranty, i have put in a few crate motors and the run like crazy.

Many of GM pickups that have 70,000 miles on the engine will not start due to low oil pressure or a bad low oil pressure switch. So before having a truck or car hauled off to the shop check your oil level. No need to pay $65.00 for shop charge plus the tow and one quart of oil. The location of the oil-sending unit is on the back of the block between the fire wall and motor. It has a three-wire connector. Buy a pressure switch so you can see what size wretch you will need to get it off with. An easy way to know for sure is turn the key to the run position, do you here the fuel pump run? No? Then it is most likely the switch. .
The 1995 350 is a "Vortec 5.7" motor if I remember correctly.You will have to get a throttle body and intake manifold for an older 5.7 liter(early 90's?).The Vortec engines are a sequential multiport injection setup(totally different).

Any smallblock chevy to a bigblock chevy will bolt up. examples I would go with : 350 or a 454 . The 6.5 uses the same transmission bolt pattern as these engines. If it's an automatic the flywhell might still work on the 350 or 454.
Sounds like needs a tune up, New spark plugs-wires, could be running on 5 cil. put a new fuel filter on, this helps sometimes. Buy gas treatment at Autozone, you may have water in your gas, run all the gas out and buy gas at a different place than before. Try and get 91 oct. better fuel may help.
you will most probably need a beefed up tranny to take the power of the engine, I have just installed a 350 supercharged chevy motor in my sons car with a Turbo 350 transmission and a shift kit which I have been told by an auto trans mechanic may not take the power of that engine.
It is costing him $1500 australian to have it reconditioned so I hope it will survive the rides
yes, my Chevy Suburban did the same thing. i had to re haul the internals. it was time. the rings were in bad condition. i had massive blow by. in your case, you could grab a few more miles by replacing the rings but, i would re haul if possible.
