Question about 2006 Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

My 2006 dodge stratus makes a noise for a second or two when the car is started in cold weather for the first time of the day. It is not a knocking noise it is a buzzing noise like the starter isn't disengaging. I had the starter replaced but that did not fix it. It does't do it until the weather gets very cold. Any ideas?

Where was the noise coming from? Is ur timing belt still good, did u still have enough oil in ur engine? There is probably interior engine damagd that requires knocking it down, call in a mechanic.

2001 Dodge Stratus, new battery, turns over well and runs fine in temperatures above 20 Degrees. Below that, the motor spins but the car does not start until everything warms up. The antifreez/coolent is...

Your coolant sensor may be stuck in advanced timing mode. Change it & the engine will start easy in cold & warm weather. The sensor is located near the thermostat housing. Remove the electrical connector & unscrew the sensor. Replace but do not over tighten, 5ft. lbs. Top off any antifreese loss. Good luck!

these 3.3l engines are equipped with timing chains. if vehicle has prolonged down time, typically more than 4 hours, vehicle makes a chatter until the timing chain tensioners put tension on the chain. you will need them replaced.
