1999 camry i have a 99 camry with a check engine lite on codes returned p1135 / p0401 / p1133 / i just replaced the egr valve cleaned out the down pipe to exaust and as well as the throtal body and all vacume tubes in the throtal body replaced the map sensor and o2 sensor all seems good the car runs great i reset the codes and after 18 miles the lite came back on with the same codes. so what the heck is going on here boss if any body on the world can help me shoot me an e-mail at [email protected]

    Hi,I have a problem with my toyota camry 1999model.it's showing Check engine on it and i tried to clear the display but to no avail.

Should a M.I.L. “ON” condition with DTC P1133 be encountered, perform diagnostic
procedures as described in the Repair Manual.
If the problem source cannot be identified after checking all affected areas according
to the Repair Manual, the cause may be an Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor malfunction. In this
case, replace the Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor with the current part number listed above.
If the Exhaust Manifold threads are damaged by removal of the sensor, they can be
repaired by the proper use of a M18 x 1.5 tap.

I have a 1999 Toyota Camry V6 with 34,000 miles and I am finding that all information about this being such a good car is not true. After reading some of the problems listed just on this
posting I am considering getting rid of this car. When I first bought this car it evidentially was out of alignment and I ended up buying new tires, the original tires were worn to the metal.
And it happened again and had to buy new tires again.

Several months ago, I took my car in for regular oil check and etc. They found some kind of fluid had been leaking and that oil change cost me $2,000..00. A month later the car would not start, called the Toyota people and I had to get the car to them. They said it needed a new battery. So $154.00 later by about two weeks, went to start the car and it would not start,. then it started. One night this week coming out of a restaurant from having dinner went to start the car and it made the most awful noise and rattling, I could not turn the car off. Thank goodness for two wonderful gentlemen who stopped and could not figure what was going on either. Could not get the battery cable ? off and the car started smoking,,,,,, Had to have the car towed to my house and then to the Toyota garage next day. And the final diagnosis from the serviceman was that he started the car 50 times and it always started..........I mentioned several people said it was probably the ignation or the starter motor? He said they could not do anything unless the car wouldn't start? Needless to say, I said my Goodbye to that
dealership and now I still have a car that I cannot trust to take me anywhere. I honestly have to say that this Toyota is a Lemon.

Like all solenoid valves, you can clean them with throttle body cleaner and then test the solenoid electronically with a 12 volt supply.

Use a vacuum pump and pull the EGR valve open while monitoring engine RPM's & DPFE voltage. There should be a noticable difference in RPM's with the EGR open Clean out the EGR valve and/or tubing to remove deposits Check the voltage at the DPFE, compare to specified values (refer to a repair manual for your specific model) Replace the DPFE sensor (with a good quality / OEM one)

Have 1999 Mercury Sable and failed emissions for P0401 code, I replaced the EGR Valve and had the code reset, service engine light came on again Approx 15 miles later. Took it to Auto Zone and they gave...

I am not surprized. The chances that replacing an EGR valve will fix a code P0401 on ANY Ford vehicle is about 1/2 of 1 percent. You most likely either have clogged up EGR ports in your intake manifold, or you have a defective Delta Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) sensor.

To find out which it is, apply vacuum to the EGR valve vacuum port with the engine idling. The engine should stumble and/or stall. If it does not, your ports are clogged. If it does, the most likely cause of your problem is the DPFE sensor. However, the EGR vacuum control solenoid could also be the cause.
You cannot properly test the EGR vacuum control solenoid without the proper equipment, but you can check to make sure that there is manifold vacuum going into one side of the solenoid and you can check to make sure that there are no breaks or leaks in the line that runs between the solenoid and the valve. If you find any of these, repair as necessary. If you do not find a problem with the vacuum lines, then you can take a "guess" and replace the DPFE. If this does not work, then you can "guess" again and replace the solenoid. If it still does nort work, then you probably have a bad electrical circuit to the solenoid (once again, requiring the proper equipment to diagnose).

1996 Trooper (P0401 Code- GONE!!!-) BUT,,,,now I have Code- P1133 and P1153. Both are O2 sensor codes. Here is the weird thing! I tried everything in the book to try and fix the P-0401- Insufficient...

I had a similar problem with code PO401
The solution was to loosen up the throttle cable a bit.
Since the TPS value has to be at 0.0% at idle.

1997 volvo 960, check engine light on with P0401. These motronic 4.4 do not have EGR, p0401 mean insufficient EGR flow. How do you fix this if there is no EGR?

A code P0401 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:
* The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
* There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup
* The EGR valve is faulty
* The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum

Showing check engine - then the code reader is p1133 and p0171

miles...?
P1135 Air-Fuel Sensor Heater Circuit Response.
the air fuel sensor malfunction is the main problem and thats causing the code p0171.
Hard to start o long cranking time to starter is gona be the first symtoms.
replace upstream. (the air fuel Sensor and the oxygen sensor is the same)

I have a 99 ford f150 it has a code reading p0402 excessive flow

Check my profile page and follow the steps listed in my Tips and Tricks for P0401, once the housing is claen reset the light and see if trouble returns if it does, I suggest you replace the sensor, the sensor is located on the left hand side of the engine in front of the EGR valve. Hope this helps let me know

How to replace EGR valve on 2000 camry V6?

If you have a P0401 code from a CEL, the first thing is to check the EGR vacuum modulator. It is a little well usually next to the EGR. Pop the cap off and dust the little sponge inside. Sometimes this gets stuffed up with carbon particles and causes recirculation problems. You should clean the tubes hooked to it while you are there. Reset the code and see if the light comes back.

Replacing the EGR is not a tidy job. It is an expensive part to replace and you will disconnect the three hoses and dismantle it from engine by two nuts. Save it for the later if the previous trick fails to work.
