That is part of the Antitheft system. Either you had a dead battery and had to jump start your car or the battery was disconnected for one reason or another. The only way to get your radio unlocked is to take the car to a Kia dealer. Make sure you have your photo ID and proof of registration with you. They will only unlock a radio for the registered owner of the vehicle. This is to keep someone from stealing your radio and using it in their car.

My husbands car is a 2002 eclipse spyder convertible he just got it he had a problem with battery and when he started the car back afterward the radio states CODE!

When the radio ask for CODE, is asking about unlock code (this occurs when the battery is disconnected); you need enter this unlock code.

Generally this code is located in the owners manual or backside of the radio; if you dont have this info, need to visit the dealer and, with your VIN number, ask for this code number.

Keep in mind that this unlock code is unique for each vehicle, and anyone coudl send you from Internet.

Hope this helps.

Kia Spectra radio replacement issues

Did you go to nearest Autozone store and ask them to do free OBD-II 'code scan'? If you're not near Autozone stores call other part stores and even repair shops and ask if they'll do a free OBD-II code scan. Write down all the codes they give you then either buy a manual or goto http://www.kiatechinfo.com/index.asp and register a new logon there. Its a good place to do research on your problem. Sorry I can't help more.

Kia rio 2002 model how do i decode my stero its asking for a code

Check the owners manual, there's a 4 digit code in one of the manuals for the radio...Try the code 1212 or 1111....if you enter the wrong code too many times it locks up and you have to disconnect the battery cable and re-connect it to reset the lock on the radio...call the dealership service department and a tech will provide you the correct code to unlock the radio

2002 highlander radio code

Good news: You do not have to worry about you issue.
Your radio (if it is a "factory" radio) does NOT require a security reset code. You do not have an "anti-theft" radio. You can disconnect the battery cables at will, and the only issue you will have is that you will lose the preset stations that you set manually.
The "anti-theft" radios were abandoned by Toyota several years ago. Hope this eases your mind.
