Speedometer Needle for Hyundai 2004 Accent

The speedometer needle for my hyundai 2004 Accent is not working properly. It stops at 30 km/h when the car is not moving then when it moves it starts from 30 km/h up to 200 km/h, sometimes the needle drops to 0 km/h then when the car moves again, it goes up to 30 km/h and starts shaking at one position. How can I get my speedometer to work properly

If your transmission fluid level is okay, then you need a new speedometer cable. Its not terribly difficult to replace, but it does require you to pull the instrument cluster. A local Hyundai dealership might be willing to photocopy the specific speedometer cable replacement instructions out of the 2004 Accent shop manual.

Hello,My speedometer stop working this morning I have a 2004 Hyundai Accent and I'm trying to find out if it has a fuse or sensor and what would make it just stop working?

Yes there is a fuse for it in the power dist. box look in the owners manual. It also has a sensor on the transmission , sensors go bad, or the connector or wires were damaged by road debris.

sounds like the coil spring for the speedometer needle is bad. you can replace it or buy a new instrument cluster. Look at local salvage yards for cheaper price.

MY SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE IS STICKING WHEN I STOP IT STILL SHOW SPEED I WAS GOING..THEN IT START WHERE IT STOP INSTEAD OF GOING TO ZERO

If there is no malfunction with any of the other gauges, then this is probably a faulty servo motor in the speedometer needle. You will probably have to replace the entire gauge cluster. This is likely a dealer part and possibly a dealer repair, since you will be tampering with the odometer.

The speedometer cable is more to be at fault than anything else.Try checking to see if the cable is loose behind the instrument cluster.

check out the cable that goes from the speedometer to the transmission if it is properly connected. The cable is thick and rotates as the car moves.
