1997 4.0 6cyl loses power intermittently Bad Coolant Sensor Light (replaced)

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee with several problem.
This has been an excellent car up until now.
No interior lights unless we push the overhead switch.
No bad fuses.

Car stutters and loses power intermittently after driving a while and smells like
something is burning.(New catalytic converter installed did not fix it)
Turn car off and restart and it runs fine sometimes all day sometimes repeats
after 20 to 30 minutes. All gauges are good.Bad Coolant Sensor light flashes periodically but Sensor has been replaced. Code reads PO132
PO138,but the sensors check out fine.

Got any ideas ?

2000 jeep grand cherokee will not start tempture gage reads hot

This is a safety system built into a Grand cherokee. If it gets hot or loses oil pressure it will shut itself down to prevent engine damage. If it hasn't been started and it reads hot I would say your coolant temperature sensor for the gauge has gone bad and needs to be replaced. They are fairly inexpensive and not to hard to replace.

Coolant Sensor Bad Message on the Vehicle Information Center intermittently displayed on my 1996 Grand Cherokee. Have changed the Float Switch 3 times and no joy.

The problem Has nothing to do with the coolant sensor, Or for that matter anything to do with the cooling system at all, Check out Jeepforumdotcom & under "coolant sensor Bad fix" You will see that it actually has to do with crummy soldering on the back of the VIC (Vehicle Information Centre), & all that is needed to fix this problem is a bit of solder & some patience, I know this because I have changed my coolant sensor on the engine block and in the reservoir & the thermostat just to be sure & all with brand new original jeep parts not aftermarket rubbish, & all it took was a bit of solder & searching the answer on jeepforum.com

Need locations of all the themperature sensors on my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition 5.2 Liter, the dash says the Colant Sensor Is Bad, thought about punishing it :-), been doing this for about 3...

The Coolant Sensor is inside coolant bottle; in this models is common ths message failed; clean the plug and reset your ECU alarms, if the message come on again, replace your coolant sensor. And, really, one message about a bad sensor/signal is one bad work engine.

Good luck.

Coolant sensor wiring would be the next place to look. Make sure connector is good, and look for broken wires.
