Hi, the throttle body can get carbon build up, resulting in a low idle, or possible check engine light. The carbon build up can be cleaned. The most effective way, is to actually remove the throttle body, and clean the throttle plate, and air flow ports, with a good spray choke cleaner. This is available at an auto parts store. Once reassembled, the low idle situation will be resolved. Good luck...Coop

Cleaning throttle plate and MAF sonsor

TO clean the throtle plate use a small tooth brush and some throtle body cleaner. remove the intake hose, spray the throtlebody and then open the throtle plate and spray plate , use brush to clean body and plate then spray clean try not to spray to much into engine , after its clean then start the engine you may have to hold gas pedal down to start as it going to be a little load up with fuel from the cleaner, some time sit will start up on its on and run a little rough for a few seconds and clear up. As far as the mass sensor this needs to be cleaned with mass air flow cleaner, this is a spray like the throtle spray but is made for that sensor and drys fast, spray the two sensors inside but dont touch them or move them spray as close to them as you can to clean them, good luck.

Car will start but will die right away, but has no problem starting, could that be the idle control?

That is correct it could be the idle air control valve, before replacing it try to clean the throtle body and open the plate by having someone hold pedal down so you can clean area around the plate also, most times its a drity throtle, after cleaning and it stalls then replace the valve good luck and hope this helps.

High idel control on a 2001 gmc yukon xl with a 350 engine, not the first time it has happened, dealers fix only temporary

these trucks have throttle body problems, the throtlebodys have to be replaced on these, first make sure the throtle body is clean and that there are no vacuum leaks, also see if the idle air control is sold sperate. on many newer models the complete throtle body has to be replaced, call your dealer and see if that truck has a recall on this problem.

Tps , the throtle position sensor is causing my check engine light to show up. I just want to know where the throtle postion sensor is located.

Mounted on the throttle body. Try cleaning it before replacing. Follow the hose from your air filter box to the intake, the sensor will be right in that area where the hose connects to the intake throttle body. It should have a harness plug.

1994 Ford Probe GT - Uncontrollable Revving

ok, this is simple to do but I would get the Chilton for your car so you can have pictures of what to do. You can get the chilton at the parts store, or the library. It sounds like a throtle body sensor or the throtle body itself, but could also be your air idle control sensor. go down and buy some mass air flow sensor cleaner and a BIG can of carb cleaner. First clean the mass air flow sensor neer the air filter. then remove the throtle body it is held in by 4 botls and you may need a new gasket, NO GASKET GLUE. Now take that big old can of carb cleaner and start cleaning in and out. also down into manifold. clean everything. Now put it back together, remember 4 bolts and no gasket glue. if the problem continues replace the throtle body sensor. and then the idle air intake. It will be cheaper to take it into the part store and have them put it on the computer. They can often tell you what sensor it is ahead of all this but don't let this stop you from cleaning out the throtle body, it will make your car run better and longer.

S10 has very high idle when cold and sticks to the gas when warm

you need to replace the throtle body controll sensor. Also you may want to make sure all your linkage from the pedal to the throtle body is cleaned and lubed correctly. While playing in this direct area. Your throtle body is only 4 bolts away. Why not get some carb cleaner and get to know your truck just a litle more.

If this is a carborator, then you need to turn my warmup idle down. there are 2 sets of idles on carborators. the one to warm up the engine, automatic choke or pin settings. Get a Chilton, find out which idles pin is for what. and play a litle bit.

I think you have a throtle body so I would also check the automatic air intake sensor. It could be going bad. Check your filter and make sure its clean.

hope all this helps.
