What has most likely happened is that the Heater-a/c unit needs to be recalibrated and here are the steps to do so.
With the engine running and fully warmed up, A/C has to be turned off for at least 5 minutes [don't turn it on at all] and transmission in Park do the following
1. Set the temp control all the way to cold
2. Set the mode selector to Vent so air blows out of the dash panel outlets.
3. Hold down the rear washer button and the rear wiper buttons simultaineously for about 5 seconds until most all of the heater and ac panel lights blink and then release both buttons
6. At this point the system should go into a self calibration test which can take up to 60 seconds. While it is calibrating various control panel switch lights will blink as it goes through it's tests.
7. When the system is done calibrating then just the rear wiper light should be flashing and you can exit the test by turning off the vehicle. Wait about 10 seconds and restart the engine and it should be fine. If both the rear wiper and intermittent light are both still flashing after the calibration then there is most likely a problem with the system that will need more diagnosing. I see this fairly often with battery replacements so I think you'll be ok. It sometimes takes a couple of tries to calibrate so don't give up if it doesn't work the first time. Good luck, hope this helps!
The blinking lights in the rear wiper rear defrost area can be reset by
holding 2 buttons of the 3 on the left hand side. The top and bottom
buttons. Turn the key on and hold them for about 10 sec and they should
start flashing differently. Just let it do this. After they start
flashing different. It will take 5 to 10 mins. Then one or more will
quit flashing all together. If they don't after about 20 min reset them
again it can take about 5 trys sometimes before they all go out. Good Luck
TO INITIATE TESTS: 1. Set blower to HIGH 2. Set mode position to PANEL (AC vent air) 3. Open all AC outlets 4. Temp. on full cold 5. Start engine 6. Push WASH and REAR WIPER switches for 5 seconds until all panel lights are on solid System will then go through it's paces as it calibrates the climate controls 7. When calibration is complete only the REAR WIPER switch/light should be flashing. Press this switch to extinguish the light This will stops blinking lights.....
With my 1998 TC you have to start car turn to cold and fan on high. Tehn hold down the rear wiper and WASH buttons until the lights start flashing differently. Let it run through until only the rear wiper light is blinking. You should here it cycling through the different functions. When it is jsut the rear wiper blink press that button and the system is reset if there are no problems. A low voltafge problem had caused mine to act up.
To Calibrate , start and warm engine to normal operating temp. with engine idling turn blower switch to high, turn mode switch to panel, open all outlets, move temp lever to full cold.
press and hold rear wash and rear wiper buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds (untill all leds illuminate.) all leds should light up for 5 seconds, rear wiper and intermittent rear wiper button leds will flash alternatly during calibration... after 60 seconds if only rear wiper button led is flashing, cal. is complete
The procedure for re-setting the HVAC control panel on a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan follows: With ignition on but not running 1. turn knob to air vents 2. turn fan knob to ON 3. temperature setting on COLD (2X) {I have dual temp controls} 4.
hold top(rear wiper) and bottom (rear wiper with wash) buttons pressing
down together until all the buttons cycle through (this will require 1
to 2 minutes of continuous pressing) I learned this from a very helpful local Dodge service adviser
