On the inside of the transmission case, which means rebuild. But you can replace the fluid or do a flush.

Usually it is located under the transmission pan...this is a messy job and if u dont like working on cars iu would suggest taking it to a quick oil change place

Location and access to Transmission Filter to change Trans. oil and Filter

Hi Lb,
My car is RX300 1999 and has the same problem. I changed the fluid 2 years ago after the trans slip and lost the shift. Afterwards it worked for another 2 years. But recently it doesn't work again even I change fluid and put Stop Slip additive to the trans. I was told the trans has to be rebuilt. So changing fluid and filter can help to maintain the trans for sure and can prevent problem. But if the trans has already worn a lot, it can't help at last.

Is it true that the auto transmission fluid for chrysler grand voyagercan only be a particular type? Likewise for brake fluid and power sterling fluid??

The Filter inside the trans will only fit similar units

If your adding an external filter on return line then
a trans & power steering filter is the same inside

5/16" for trans -- usually
3/8" for P/S

Get the Filtran Filter with the magnet & only
use on trans or P/S return lines & change every
2 years

Leaking fluid

Only so many places these trans 41 TE can leak on the vans. Lines on top, speed sensors(input, output)one is below the lines the other is to right of the lines. Dipstick tube, trans solenoid gasket, Oil pan & extension gasket. Wipe off & clean area very well. Lines leaking, check clamps first before replacing. Speed sensor leaking replace o ring, Dipstick tube replace o ring, Trans solenoid replace gasket, Extension plate replace gasket If the pan is leaking you change the trans filter & put a gasket on the pan. The book says RTV on the pan, but FelPro make a gasket for the pan $6.99. Use a Chrysler trans filter!!!! O rings for sensors, tube around $3 each, trans solenoid gasket $3, extension gasket $10, Filter $11 + gasket $7 & 4qts trans fluid if doing the filter or extension gasket.

Where is auto trans filter on 2002 hyundai sonata w/2.4 engine ?

I did some checking and found that there is little to no info available, the only mention was that the internal filter is not user serviceable.Autozone sells a screw on external filter for your year and model but they don't show the location, try checking the trans oil cooler for the screw on filter.

Transmission filter on 2003 hyundia santa fe

In 2002 they discontinued the external trans filter. So your vehicle could have the external filter. If you look next to the trans dipstick tube, on top of the trans case you will see the filter or you will see just a spot where the filter use to go before they eliminated it. Yes, the filter does llok like a regular engine oil filter. If the trans does not have the external filter ontop then there is no service to the filter to be done, the only recommendation is to bring vehicle into a shop to have the fluid flushed. By the way, make SURE you use the correct Hyundai SP-III trans fluid (not dexron/mercon). This fluid is specific to the Hyundai and can not be purchased from auto parts stores, only the dealership. Failure to use SP-III will cause premature wear to the internal bands and clutches.

Transmission filter

That car was available with 2 different transmissions.1 is the CD4E.That trans, the filter is only accessable if rebuilding the trans. You literally have to tear down the trans to get to the filter,so just drain and refill that one on a service. The other trans it could have is the GF4AEL,and that one has two pans. The filter is located in the bottom pan.Good luck.
