What causes ny 2005 sangyong musso suv overheating engine problem

Maybe rust blocking radiator. Pull the radiator pipe off the bottom and flush it. Otherwise might have minor gasket blown. Hot gasses heats the water up. Use antifreeze (gives water a higher boiling point so makes driving a bit safer on the engine (wont seize if water is not boiling))

Seems to be overheating and blowing back to header tank and out presher cap could it be thermastat

How old is the fluid, old fluid could boil at a lower temp. The cap could be bad, if it isn't sealing up correctly at the right pressure, coolant could blow by. The radiator could be clogged. The thermostat could be bad, test it by using an old pot and boiling it in water to see if it opens up.

1996 Kia Sportage: the engine boils over occasionally. Less often when the passenger compartment heater is full on

CHECK YOUR COOLANT FAN AND MAKE SURE WHEN YOU ARE AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE THE YOU CAN HEAR IT . AND ALSO CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR THERMASTAT IS STICKING CHECK AND MAKE SURE AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE THAT YOUR UPPER RAD. HOSE AND LOWER RADIATOR HOSE ARE ABOUT THE SAME . MAKE SURE ONE IS NOT COOL AND THE OTHER HOT IF SO THERMASTAT . AND CHECK COOLANT LEVEL. I WOULD START THERE

You have a blown gasket and are experiencing what is termed Blow by...
Blow by is where the engines compression is released into the coolent due to a faulty head gasket.

Keeps boilling over

Don't know what you are testing by squeezing things but if lower hose is cold ant upper is hot, change the t stat. If problem continues then it's likely that the radiator is still obstructed and needs to be replaced (sometimes flushing will simply go around internal stoppage).

Overheating boiling over, cant find therm stat location on discovery model

Find where the Upper Radiator hose connects to the block. That is usually where you find the Thermastat. 2 to 3 bolts hold the cover in place. You need new Therma stat, a new seal, and the tools to remove and install the part.
