Land Rover Discovery II, 1999, Remote door opener hasn't worked in a long time. Have always opened door with key. Door lock now will not open door and does not turn with any resistance, sloppy, and will not open any other doors. Had someone get the rear door open by prying the window in and using a lock-out kit. The anti-theft buttons on the key bob do not seem to make any difference. When I try to start the car or open the front doors the car starts sounding an alarm. How can I stop this and get my car started. I guess I am asking for a re-set. I have a feeling there is an actuator problem in the drivers door. This I'm not concerned with. I simply want to get my car re-set and moved out of the location it is in.

There are two fuse boxes. One in the engine compartment and one under the dash on passenger side.

You can find all parts for your Discovery here.

SOURCE: stuck in park, Land Rover Discovery

Had the same problem with my 03 Disco. Went through the usual, checking the fuses, etc. I went ahead and replaced my break light switch on the brake pedal. $15.00 fix, or I thought so; still had the problem! Took it in for repairs and found out it was fuses after all... To get the parking lock to disengage you need to pull of the housing, which is tough and then press in the locking pin at the base of the shift lever to shift out of park. you can do it with the engine running and it will drive just fine until you put it into park again. Check your brake lights if there is a problem. Could be a sign of the brake switch failure. In my case the lights were out, but a cheap trailer rental did the damage. The short in the trailer blew some fuses and it was a problem that cost me $60.00 at the repair shop....

Door wont open

Then its like my drivers door that I had to replace the lock on the inside of door as my tumblers only lasted so long. My daughter got key stuck upside down and it ruined the lock. Hey, replace lock and use new key for that door or have lock smith rekey it for the old key.

I haveLand Discovery I and the driver side passenger door and the rear door want open unless I open with a key or pull the lock up manually. Please help

There is a little spring in the door lock itself that is broken. You can order the spring for a few $$$ from a few Land Rover on0line specialty shops. Its a big job to replace though as you have to remove the window regulator, And window glass & Frame to get to the lock to replace or fix it. Not much of an option though. I just spent 4-hrs tearing mine apart. I'll put it back together tomorrow AM.

Passenger door does not open on a 1999 land rover

Try to use the key to open the passenger door and then check the side of the door if there is a safety lock for children.

The locks on my 1997 Land Rover Discovery wont stay locked. I lock them and they pop up when I shut the door. Whats up with this mystery.....any help is appreciated.

The owner's manual for your Discovery clearly states that this is a design feature to keep you from locking the keys in the vehicle. The doors must be locked with either the remote keyless entry transmitter, or with the key itself.

Hi i have a land rover freelander 00.back door wont open or tailgate windoe wont go down, the rest of the doors work. help

try a hard restart, if that doesnt work then you need a new rear window motor. for the hard restart all you have to do is disconnect the battery cables and touch the positive and negative together for about 8 seconds. if that fails then a new motor it is.
