  • Find the section in the owner's manual that lists the location and function of each fuse and relay. It should tell you where to find the fuse box (typically underneath the steering column) and contain a diagram of the physical layout of the fuses and relays. Locate the horn relay in the list, and match it up with the appropriate location from the diagram.
  • Open the fuse box cover. A plastic clip usually holds the fuse box closed. You should now see the fuses and relays, in the same positions as shown in the diagram in the owner's manual. Find the relay in the fuse box at the location designated in the manual.
  • Remove the horn relay. Grasp the relay and pull it straight out of the socket. It should come out easily.
  • Insert the new horn relay into the socket. You will notice that it fits correctly only in the proper orientation.
  • Close the fuse box cover. Test the horn to make sure it works.

In your owners manual go to the index and look for fuses then go to that page. Look for the horn fuse which should be in the fuse box under your hood around your engine, in your owners manual is should tell you where it's located. Find the fuse for it by looking at the diagram on your owners manual and then pull that fuse out. You should have replacement fuses in the fuse box that's in your car, you have to open the car door to get to it. If you don't have that fuse just take it up to auto zone and tell them you need a replacement for that fuse.

Go to this website and pick owner guide on left task bar. Input vehicle info then get the owners manual.Your fuse panel info starts on page 120.

To replace lighter just reach around behind it and unhook connectors. The stick something in the socket(I usually use 2 fingers) and twist it counter clockwise. the center will screw out of the sleeve.

Replaced horn and now it wont work. Where is the fuse for the horn on a 2000 Merc Mountaineer

The fuse for the horn would be in the power distribution box located under the hood in the engine compartment (see picture below). Also below is a diagram of the fuse layout. The fuse you want to check will be the fuse in the number 10 position and should be a 15 amp fuse. There is a horn relay as well and the is the relay in that same box in the number 7 position. I hope this helps and good luck.

    My horn is not working

Check the fuse for the horn. This may need to be replaced. If this does not work, you have a broken horn. A local auto parts store should help you out with this problem easily.
