From my expirience, and im not an exoert, no. The check engine light refers to emissions issues. Couldve been something as simple as pumping gas with the engine running. An auto parts store can check the computer with a reader and find the code responsable for the light. They can also reset it....All at no charge.
SOURCE: Low on motor oil caused the check engine light to light up
Try taking it to dealer or auto parts store. They will be able to reset the light AND tell you if there is any other issue with the computer sensors.

Blinking check engine light is not good at all. It is a type of misfire that will cause catalytic convertor damage!!! Get the problem taken care of before you have to invest thousands on convertors.
SOURCE: oil pressure drops and check
Inside your engine is an oil pump assembly which is mechanically operated to pump oil your through your engine while the vehicle is running. There is a pick up tube which extends from the pump to your oil pan and a screen which helps to keep large debris from entering your oil passage ways and engine components. If that screen is blocked you will have low oil pressure, if the pumps diaphragm is worn out you will need to replace your oil pump and this would cause your pressure to drop as well. I would also suggest having your oil pressure sending unit tested to make sure it's functioning first before doing any internal engine work. Hope this helps you and best of luck
