I have had the transmission rebuilt in my 2002 Hyundai Accent GL only 8 weeks ago and I have gotten the codes P0734 and P1529 now. So does that mean my mechanic did not do his job?

Well I had it rebuilt and only lasted 5 months and now the same codes P0734 & P1529. Do these codes need to be flashed at dealer....maybe new tcm or speed control sensors (input & output)

Tranny should have a longer waranty than 8 weeks so take it back and make them investigate.

Is your DTC p0723 (2 to 3rd gear ratio, off top of my head)? If so try the speed sensor, it is about $50US else it is rebuild time is my guess. This what happen to mine. Note the advice is free for what that is worth. On 2nd try with junkyard trannies. Like the guy said they are throw away cars and I have read where rebuilts only last a year ($700us) but there is a place in San Berdo.. (around pick a part) which will give a 3 year for $1800 you install it. But the car does get 45mi/gall, best. I got 150K miles on the tranny and used dextron in the last 30K. I think that is what kill it plus a cartop carrier and moving wood panels. Stick with the factory oil or atf 3, chrysler since it is their tranny.

    Try this forum
    Hyundai Accent Transmission Questionshttp://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/...

I might be stupid and try to rebuild one but one one guy rebuild one on these forums with success (at least he has not reported any failure with his rebuild) but he also advises not to do it because he had to pull it 3 times taking apart the tranny also. His problem was documentation and he used 7 quarts of spIII at $7/quart. I will use Dextron III until it operates cprrect;ly then drain it putting in the Walmart equivlent of spIII until the dextron mix is down to 10% of the Walmart oil. Oh well I already got the tranny out and 3 books on it plus another junkyard trans. I got more time because the economy is south so wish me luck.

I have a 2002 Hyundai accent, code P1529.

P1529 means nothing more than the TCM (transmission control module) has requested that the ECM (engine control module) turn on the check engine lamp. Best to have this checked out as there could be an error code for the transmission.

Why am I still getting codes p1529 and po734 after replacing tcm and imput speed sensor when the car warms up?

P0734 is a gear ratio code for 4th gear. In other words TCM sees 4th gear is slipping. P1529? I don't know I'm on my cell phone.

Transmission Problem

Sounds like the transmission is trashed to me. You might try flushing the transmission fluid a couple times to see if that can help the problem (I would have it done with an actual transmission flush machine)

Other than that, all I can say is DIG DEEP my friend!

Sounds like a dirty of faulty speed sensor. They can be removed and cleaned. Better off replacing. Do check the wires to the speed sensor. Trace wires from tranny to instrument cluster and make sure they are all in tact and clean.

I have two codes showing on my daughters 2002 hyundai, P1529 and P0734. What should I look for to repair these problems

po 734 is transmission code, unfortunatly its not good, an internal failure, probably a kickdown servo failure, hyundai offers a reman trans, with a good warranty i would look into that, also they will give you a better diag and options on what you have, however if you are the original owner, and have proof of proper maintainance, the trans may be covered on the 10 year 100,000 mile power train warranty

My 2002 hyundai check engine light is on and the tranmission is slipping. The code read P1529.

dear friend-the code P1529 means transmission control module(TCM)-communication problem,so please look at the following items-wiring,tcm,ecm,
just a hint if the transmission is slipping then the tcm is getting the wrong information from the input and out sensors.

Vehicle wont change up into gear reverse gear not

P0734 - 4th gear incorrect ratio. P1529 Malfunction Indicator Lamp Request. Problem is in the transmission.
Take/Tow your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

2002 hyundai accent codes p1529 and p0734

P1529 means nothing more than the TCM (transmission control module) has requested that the ECM (engine control module) turn on the check engine lamp.
P0734 basically indicates that your transmission is slipping.
You need to take this car to an authorized repair center for hyundai cars. Replacing the filter and fluid on the transmission might save this transmission but I would be willing to bet that a total transmission rebuild is in order.

Good Luck
