Most common reasons. Needs a tune up-spark plugs /wires/filter. Poor quality or low fuel grade, you should be using the 89 Octane not the 87 or the fuel is contaminated with something. Transmission being low on fluid will cause this to happen as the transmission has to work harder to shift when it is low that means more RPMS, More RPMS means More fuel less mileage. Incorrect tire pressure. You have the defroster running. For some reason most manufacturers in the 1990's started having the AC compressor engage when you select defrost. Only use Defrost when you absolutely have to or disconnect the AC Compressor control wires in the engine compartment.

I have a 2008 Chevrolet 2500 HD. I fill the truck up with diesel and with half a tank used, I have only gone 104 miles. Does this sound right?

You'll need to know how big the fuel tank is on your truck. They used different sized tanks depending on the box or body fitted. I think the standard body box was a 26 gallon tank and the long body box was a 34 gallon. This will help you work out your actual miles per gallon.
That model's factory figures have it at between 12 to 13 mpg average. How and where you drive your truck can also affect you fuel consumption quite a lot, City driving, Hard accelerating, Lots of steep hills where you drive and Driving Off Road all can ruin you MPG figures. Using the your numbers that does seem a little lower than it should be. When was it last given a full service? Have you changed fuel supplier, (different gas station). All of these affect MPG Do you have any warning lights on the Dashboard? Use the comment button below with more information and I'll try to help you more.

Using your numbers here's the math.
26 gallon tank - half tank = 13 gallons. 34 gallon tank - half tank = 17 gallons. You got 104 miles.
Sum used is 'Miles achieved divided by the number of gallons used'.
(26 tank) 104 divided by 13 = 8 Mpg.
(34 tank) 104 divided by 17 = 6 Mpg.

I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo and my gas needle is broke, how much would it usually cost to get fixed, how many highway miles per gallon and city miles per gallon please?

You would need to check with a local garage for repair prices.
To find your average mileage, fill up the tank, write down the mileage, then do it again at around 200 miles. Divide the mileage traveled by the number of gallons used. I would recommend filling up after you have used about 8 or 9 gallons to prevent running out of gas. You can't go by the federal mpg numbers because everybody drives differently.

What is the gas mileagefot my car

1. Fill gas tank 2. Record odometer reading 3. Drive car as usual until 1/4 full. 4. Fill gas tank and record how many gallons it took to fill it again. 5. Record new odometer reading and subtract original reading. 6. Divide miles driven by gallons used.

My 98 Rodeo is only getting about 6 miles to the gallon? Any ideas as to why?

at 6 miles to the gallon the engine will not be running properly
if it is running well then you have a fuel leak in a hose somewhere or your method of calculating the consumption is flawed
to get a consumption reading , fill the tank completely , take a note of the mileage and use the car normally you have to refuel again
fill the tank completely and take the mileage again
now deduct the first mileage from the second to get distance driven and use the second fill amount to get the fuel consumption for the distance covered

Hi. Im writing this because when my" distance till empty" feature reaches 30 it just goes blank. So im wondering how many miles I truly have left and why it never reaches 0?

normally that occurs because the gas in the tank is too low ans sloshing around and the sensor is not able to give an accurate estimate of distance to empty, remember those are just rough estimates ans should never gallons leftbe relied on to be accurate to the last few miles by the time it says 20 miles you probably have 1 to 1-1/2 gallons of gas left

I have a FORD Econolinen 1993. When I drive he abuse 45 ltres of gaz on 100 miles . Is this normale ?

on normal that trk should be around 6-7 gallons used per one hundred miles drove. i based that at 15 mpg. now that is also based on a V8 engine. now 1 gallon of gas is 3.78541178 liters which totals 12 galons of gas to 45.42494136 liters. This would mean that it took 12 gallons of gas to travel 100 miles which totals 8.3333333333 mpg. not as good as i would have thought. 8 miles per gallon (mpg) hell that engine must be a big block 460. If it is that big cubic inch i could understand but any other motor should do better mpg than 8.3. so i agree that is not normal, tune up, or look for fuel leak in the fuel supply or( feed ) line. From the tank to the motor. This must be a canadian truck yes? well hope for the best or trade that guzzler in for a new breed. stay warm!

When the gas light comes on how much gas do i have left in the tank?

Hi:
I am pretty sure that the light comes on when you have approx 1/8 tank left. In my honda, with a 12 gallon tank, that equated out to 1.5 gallons, or approx 45 driving miles on flat land in the city. Of course, you should check your average miles per gallon with your driving style , as well as filling the tank once the light comes on, to see how many gallons are left, and you will have an accurate number!
