If this happens after it warms up you probably have a bad thermostat wich is located at the end of the 2 inch hose coming from the top of the radiator remove the hose there are two bolts holding the next peice on pry it off and there is your thermostat stack it out now you look at it and remember what it looks like put it in a pan on stove boil ing water or use a small torch to heat it up if the spring doesnt flex and open it up theres the problem the other reason would be a clogged radiator

Volvo s70, 1998, heater not blowing hot air

Are you getting coolant flow through the heater core? These cars have common problems with heater cores but they are easy to replace. IPD has a Video on U-Tube with step by step instructions. Also if you are in very cold weather have you checked your anti-freeze? I saw a Toyota last year freeze completely because of no anti-freeze. It took days to thaw out the heater core and they were lucky that the ice did not blow it apart. It took me hours of starting it and running up to a low temp and shutting it down to get it drivable.

Heater blows cold air after engine is warm at increased RPM, works fine at idle.

sign that the thermostat is stuck open, which is just allowing your anti-freeze to flow through all the time an therefore making it run cooler at a higher rpm or low anti-freeze level

Engine warms well, heater fan blowing well, but very little heat comes into cab

It could be one of two things.
1. Bad thermostat. Your thermostat is pobably not opening when the engine warms up. Install a new thermostat and you should be OUT OF THE COLD. If not,
2. Your heating core and radiator is probably clogged. One way to solve this is. Flush out your radiator with radiator flush kit. Pease read your owners manual, (YOU NEED TO USE A SPECIAL TYPE OF ANTI FREEZE). If you use the the green color Presotne anti freeze, It will gradually corrode through the linings of your radiator. And the green color prestone anti freeze will blow out the radiator. So read your owners malual ( I beleive it says you have to use Dextron Anti Freeze ( Pink Color).. Replace your thermostat and flush out your radiator. Then refill your radiator with dextron anti freeze. Also make sure the anti freeze resivor is filled to the proper level.. Once you do all of this, YOU DEFFINITLY WILL BE IN HEAT.. YOU CAN DO THIS YOUR SELF ( iT WOULD TAKE ME NO MORE THAN 1 TO 2 HOURSFOR ME TO DO THIS IN MY DRIVEWAY) OR YOU CAN HAVE THIS DONE AT ANY QUICK LUBE LOCATIONS... HAPPY MOTORING

1998 jaguar xj8 consumes anti-freeze

First thing to check is the radiator cap seal. If it is not sealing properly, the water will boil off and then soon, the anti freeze will begin to disappear. Clean the metal surfaces and gasket and make sure it is tight ---or buy a new cap --but make sure there is a seal. If that doesn't cure it, you may have a head gasket leak that blows the coolant (anti freeze) into one cylinder. If that cylinder is tight, the coolant will only evaporate in the heat and be blown out the exhaust --not entering the oil pan. Check your exhaust when you start up. You may see white smoke, or even liquid, exiting the exhaust pipe, indicating a blown head gasket (then engine may run rough, too). If this is the case, there are reasonably inexpensive cures for this in some cases.
