Do both fans work for sure? You may want to replace the fans runs anywhere from 140$ up to 250$ depending on the brand.
Keep me updated.

This code is generally for the fan. It could be a loose or broken wire or it could be that the fan is going out and not working on a regular interval or coming on at a higher temp then it should.

These cars have problems with the magnet falling off the cam gear it is just glued on and will often start to seperate. usually this results in a "Hard code p480" and the only drivability problem would be a slightly longer crank time and the injectors will not fire sequentially anymore. It could also possible sugjest a timing chain that is sloppy, if the chain actually slipped it would probably strip of gear teeth and it would not be an intermitant problem. I sugjest that you start by having the cam sensor signal tested or if you have a LabScope yourself Test the waveform generated by the sensor. Look for drop outs or a low amp out-put signal.

Hope that helps

Oh if that the case you may need to check the wiring because there can be a short of wire there possible you can also do this for isolation ,Disconect the fan ,run a fused (Correct Amp) jumper wire direct to battery ,see if it blows the fuse. If it does you`ve found your problem..

    Hope that helps.....

The rason for that is Fan 1 is not functioning properly and mya stop sometimes while running and that can be a problem with a short wiring that's why I'm asking you to check the wiring.

Sir,

There are three types of issues that will set a code and two that will turn on the light. Your shop will need a very good scanner, an enhanced scanner with OEM Ford software, one will set a code inone driving trip but will not turn on the light. A problem in two trips will turn on the light BUT if the problem fixes itself then the light will go out on its own. There is a history of the problem stored in the computer scan data, it is called a freeze frame. If the catalytic convertor is in danger of being damaged then the ceck engine light will come on and usually flash, when that problem goes away so will the light. Freeze Frame scan data, get it checked out by a real shop with an OEM enhanced software scanner. It does not have to be the dealer, make some phone calls and go to the best shop, yes they may also charge the best (for them) price.

Thanks
Good luck

Codes PO480 and PO481 cooling fan 1 & 2 control circuit. what and where is that on a 2001 buick century?

The relays should be in the fuse relay box in the engine compartment.
The codes mean the computer tries to activate the fans and nothing happens. Could be the relays or a wiring problem.

Check engine light is on,it is showing the engine code po480.what is this?

The computer is unable to turn on the radiator fan. Check the fuse and relay in the engine compartment relay box. If the fuse is good, try swapping the relay with the one next to it. If the relay is bad, the truck will not start, as the ASD relay is necessary for the operation of the engine. If the fuse and relay are good, check to see it the fan will run when connected directly to the battery. If not, replace the fan motor. Please let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

96 jeep cherokee, replace cps and the engine control fuse

The guy at the garage today, said he went out and put a fuse in it and it started right up. Thats all he did for now. I going to have a closer look on the weekend. But, as before when I went 1/2 mile it would burn the fuse again. We will have to see if it does again, I espect it will. Any idea?
