Manual door locks on Aveo

I just bought a 2005 Aveo with manual door locks. I am not happy with the safety feature that requires me to lock the drivers door with a key. Is there a way to disable this feature. I am destined to forget one day, and find it gone or vandalized.

    duh... I do not want to spend a lot of money. That is why I want to simply DISABLE it. This car never had power locks, so installing power locks would be costly at the very least. If I had nothing but money, I'd have bought a new one, with all of the bells and whistles. Thanks, but this is not what I was asking. I was asking if it can be disabled, so I can lock it without having to use a key ... or installing power locks.

    My safety locks only work on one door, but only locks the door the window still come down. The Led light is not working either on the button. Can I fix this problem ?

Have a 2005 aveo and the driver side door lock went inside the door and i want to know were to take it to get it fix and also the passanger side door the lock also moves to and mit go down in to the door to.

Safety feature in case you forget to lock the car? I'm guessing it doesn't lock whilse you are driving the car or have the ignition on? Most modern cars have this feature. Don't forget your keys in the car. Learnt the hard way a while ago!

Second Chip key for 2005 Aveo won't work
assuming the 2005 model year stil uses viper security systems...the chip in the key carries a magnetic resistance frequency. if the chip is damaged or corroded the frequency will change and wont engage the igntion. you can either get another key made (about 75 dollars) or bypass the ignition lockout feature.

My aunt claims that when her sister accidently set the car alarm lock when she was napping in the car that she was locked in it. She says she could not get out. Does Chevy actually make the 2009 Equinox so...
the only thing i could think of would be the child safety feature but that is usually only for the rear doors. i think she just panicked because the front doors are set up so that if you pull the door lever the lock pops up.

Power locks don't engage when driving
this is form the owners manual, page 19:

The Automatic Door Locks can be enabled or disabled by
performing the following procedure:

1. Close all doors and place the key in the ignition
switch.

2. Cycle the ignition switch ON/OFF four times ending
in the OFF position. (do not start the engine)

3. Within 10 seconds of the final cycle, press the interior
driver’s door lock switch to the LOCK position.

4. A single chime will sound to signify that you have
successfully completed the programming.

You can turn the feature back on by repeating the above
mentioned procedure or by performing the procedure in
the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), Customer
Programmable Features section on vehicles so
equipped.

04 Chevy Aveo Lock
I just fixed my 2005 Aveo door lock. like so many it fell in to the inside and was hitting the window rod and locking. The fix was not to bad, I removed the 3 screws on the bottom door panel, one in the center of door pull and the one behind the arm pull. Then the door panel can be pulled out and up to unhook it from the window seam. I did not un hook the linkage from the door handel, I just slid panel down and let it hang to the side. Then peel the water film back so you can reach in and get the key lock back in to the hole. I found that my lock had rotated down and needed to be rotated back so the screw arm lines back up with the screw hole. I found a replacement screw in my screw tin that worked, tested it and it worked fine. Just revers the door panel removal proceduer making shur that the two hooks on back of the door handel cup is hooked into the two slots on door frame ot it will stick out and you will not be able to put the one screw in, dun deal.

hello milford,

i don't think you can eliminate your problem, the door lock feature is being run by a single module and all doors are connected to it in parallel

so i you want that only the driver's side door would unlock as you put it in park, then you would isolate the rest of the doors to the module but will in turn not controll the rest for locking puposes.

you can not have both features. either control one door or controll all doors.

its your choice.
