When I start my 2001 Caravan it squeals like it's out of power steering fluid, it's not. Already replaced the pump. It doesn't do it when it's hot out, but the colder it gets the longer it's squealing. Once it's warmed up, the noise goes away. It sounds like it's coming from under the van. Any ideas? Could it have the wrong type of fluid in it? Is there a certain type of fluid the van uses? Would a power steering fluid treatment help?

Its could be a bad belt.

Thanks, but the belt's okay. The noise comes from under the van, basically at the bottom of the steering column. Could something there need greased?

Well all I can see now is maybe your Alternator, because the only moving underneath could be the Torque converter. Or could be your water pump or. Buy an stethoscope cost about $14 And try to feel any moving part on your car and maybe that would led you to a Good result.

I have a 2006 dodge grand caravan and has developed a very loud whine on start-up and it usually worsens as I turn the wheel while driving. The noise seems to subside once I've been driving for awhile.

the wine is most likely the power steering pump, check your fluid level if its full then you will probably have to replace the pump. the reason it gets better after it worms up is that as the fluid gets hot it expands and thins so it take less effert for the pump to pump hot fluid then cold.

The belt in my 01 Dodge Dakota squeals badly. Started when I had my power steering pump replaced. I tried changing the belt and the tensioner, but still squeals. Is it possible the pulley on the power...

excess mechanical drag from the pump can cause the belt to slip and squeal, but before focusing on the pump I'd check the condition, tension and alignment of the belt. I might even try cleaning all the pulleys with an aerosol brake cleaner and install a new belt, particularly if the current one has more than 50,000 miles on it. It might be that the squeal is coming from or caused by a different belt-driven accessory.
A more typical noise from a power-steering pump is a high-pitched whine, not a squeal. Usually, if the steering wheel is stationary, meaning that the steering rack is not "asking" for assistance from the high-pressure fluid from the pump, there's little or no noise

Sounds like a bad steering rack.

The pump stops because the fluid
can not flow for some reasons, when
you turn lock to lock.

Also a collapsed steering hose,inside

My 2001 toyota tacoma is squealing nonstop and i think the powersteering pump is bad is this correct

I'm inclined to believe that your power steering pump is low on fluid or bad.

Squealing can come from any belt slipping or an accessory like the power steering pump being worn out.

Good luck, to you.

Steering issues

Find the leak and repair it...It is a sealed system, if you are adding large amounts of power steering fluid, it is leaking out somewhere. Hoses, reservoir, steering box, power steering pump are places to check. You should only have to add minimal fluid to the system for the entire year.

The immediate squeal you hear is most probably the unit is out of fluid or has leaked onto the serpentine belt and causing it to slip.
Fix the leak and check your serpentine belt for wear.
