SOURCE: need to replace heater core
your definately in for a journey.. the dash has to come out. theres screws along the top by the windshield, remove the stereo, heater controls, the instrument panel, light switch, glove box, kick panels on each side, there are a couple of electrical relays under the dash by the glove box. there is a 13 mm on each side by the kick panel just loosen them, the dash will pivot on them, drop down the steering column... when you get started you will see what all i have forgot to list.. when i took my first one apart i broke the front widshield by letting the dash skim across it when i pivoted it up, so i cant explain the importance of being reallly careful during this part.. once you get the dash pivoted up, you will see the black air box assembly. the heater core is in that... there will be i believe 6 or 7 studs with nuts on them stickin through the firewall, you hafta take out from the engine compartment, and while your there you may as well unhook the heater hoses from the heater core, and the aluminum lines from the evaporator core on passengers side. remove that, and then you have 20 or thirty 7 or 8mm screws in the top of the black box to remove.. remove them, the top will come off, you will see the heater core on the left hand side of the box, and the evaperator core on the right side... trust me, unless your really careful, plan on spending more money replacing a thing or two, because your bound to mess something up the first time.. trust me i did it twice.. needless to say your in for an agervating journey, and wish you the best of luck, and hope i went into enough detail to kind of give you an idea of what your looking at.
