2002 Isuzu Rodeo abs light comes on after wierd noise and breaks somewhat fault (usually when applying breaks at the same time there is a bump in the road) the sound is a grinding clunk sound. Has happened several times in the last 4 years. Paid $45 dollars yesterday for a computer to be hooked up. Problem is the Front Right Sensor. Was told that a hub would have to be ordered since the sensor is not sold separately. Cost would be $468 that's including labor. Can a sensor be ordered? Or is there something else I can do?

the sensor is at the end of the wire attached to the support or axle stub
the exciter is on the hub and will not be damaged unless something drastic has happened , like bearing failure
check the brake pads and disc rotors at an accredited brake specialist shop

SOURCE: Failed Smog Test - 4 codes for 2001 Isuzu Rodeo

Tune it up and replace the 02 sensor that keeps setting the codes bank 2 sensor 1. Have your oil and filter changed right before you go for a retest to. That will clear up 3 codes P0300, 0155 and 0154. You might have to replace the fuel sending unit to get rid of P0463 but if the gauge works OK I'd leave it alone.

check battery cables & terminals for tightness & corrosion.also check at starter.check starter bolts & actual starter for looseness.if no problems found your starter may be on its way out.next time it happens hit starter with hammer or heavy object if it starts right up get ready to replace it.good luck

SOURCE: Crank Sensor in 94 Isuzu Rodeo

it's on the bottom of the motor, towards the back on the passenger side. It has a small clip of wires and one screw holding it on. You may want to pull it up on ramps- if it'll run- otherwise, get under the Rodeo, it's up a little higher than the oil pan, and to the passenger side. (it's right on top of the two lines that run to the bottom of the radiator.) You will need a 10mm socket to remove it. I have added a few pics showing the location (i just completed this task myself)

I have a 2003 isuzu rodeo. Sometimes it is hard to put into reverse. I can usually get it to work in 1 or 2 tries. the abs light came on a couple of times. what could make this happen?
I do not think shifting gears ,putting your car in reverse has nothing to do whit whit the abs to come on and off ,my isuzu rodeo did the same thing and it was a dirty sensor ABS on front wheels , There is a ring on the inside of the front disc's that works together with the ABS sensor to send information to the car computer when braking ,and must have a distance of about 1/8 of an inch between ring and sensor ,,they must not touch ,what happens is that over time dirt starts to build between sensor and ring ,and ring and sensor begin to touch ,and if they do touch ABS light will start be on and off while driving ,,most of the time the problem is the sensor and not necessarly a bad sensor ,,only a durty sensor and dirty ring ,a broken or loose wire also will activate the ABS light ,,,and about car hard to put into reverse ,you'll probably need a new clutch ,,good luck

last question as my back hurts from sitting on computer ,right first lift each wheel up and check the wires to the sensors on the wheels ,their is a metal ring with teeth on and what often happens is the wire breaks to the sensor or the metal ring comes loose on the shaft and just spins around .Try this first before you go to a garage who would weld the ring up and charge you for a new computer or something

the abs module could be the problem but they also had common problem with rear speed sensor harness breaking at the connector by the front of the left rear wheel
