How to remove back seat to get into trunk of 1997 Grand Am

I bought my car second hand and it came with no trunk key. While looking in trunk, moved reddish/orange neon slider thing over and ever since, have not been able to open trunk from drivers side. Tried to get one of the car dealerships to open trunk with a master key but they said that the back seat would have to come out. Have tried that but the only thing stopping me is the centre hook for back--the left and right sides are unhooked but just can't get the centre hook unhooked. Have tried lifting the back but can't get it to budge.

Lift bottom section of the seat and remove the seat belt bolts and it will let the back slide up to unhook the hooks and remove it

How do I open the trunk of my 97 grand am when key wont turn it

someone moved the switch in the or should i say on the trunk lock itself to disable the trunk release from inside, SO...

Bottom of seat where your Butt goes, Has to be pushed hard to the rear bumber from the front on both side driver and passenger in the rear to disengage the rear catch then the rear seat comes up,

Next you should see 2 screws at the bottom of the back rest remove them and lift the back out, then your going to need a long screw driver or extensions for ratchet to unbolt the lock from the inside and that should be that,? Have fun.

My daughter's 2005 grand prix will not start. How can she get in the trunk to get to her jumper cables because the key fob won't work to open the trunk and the inside trunk release won't work...

In your situation I think your best bet is going to be taking out the back seat. Luckily this is very easy and will allow you easy access to your truck and jumper cables. Okay in order to remove the back seat you will have to have a socket set. There should be 2 bolts holding the bottom of the seat down and you can find them on the floor on the front part of the rear seat. One bolt on the driver side and one bolt on the passenger side. After you get those bolts out you should be able to remove the bottom section of the seat. If you can not look for two more bolts on the back part of the seat. You will have to look between the back of the seat and the bottom part. After you take those two bolts out both parts of the seat should be free and you can remove them. I hope this helps.

My key won't open the trunk and the level inside the car to open the trunk is locked - How do I get into the trunk??

Remove the back seat, or if they fold down go that way. the cars are supposed to have an emergency lever inside the trunk so that people stuck in there can get out. On the other hand you could call a locksmith and have them fix both the trunk lock in the trunk lid and the remote release in the interior.

My trunk is stuck shut I hve tried everything and other people too... we tried to take off the back seat but the are not coming off they think the bolts might be in the trunk.. so is there an other way to...

the only way even romotely possible way of getting in the trunk is to remove the key lock it'self and use a large flat tip screwdriver to move the catch by hand. you will have to replace the lock itself but the cost will be minimal. as far as the back seat is concerned they are bolted down and to my knowledge are no longer removable in most models. please rate this
