How to reset major service indicator on Mercedes ML 270 TD

The maintenance service indicator notifies the driver when the next service is due. Approximately one month before the maintenance service is due, the type of maintenance is indicated in the speedometer display. If one large wrench is shown, a minor service (A) is due. Conversely, if two small wrenches are shown, a major service (B) is due. The value shown in the display may reflect the calculated distance (in miles) or time (in days) remaining. When the maintenance service term has been exceeded, this value is preceded by a "-" (minus symbol). Turn key to position 2. press the button to show the service due light. release button. turn key off. press and hold the same button to view the service light, within 2 second turn key to position 2. wait up to 10 second and the light will reset to show new service. This may take a couple of trys (make sure the doors are shut).gL,

check your gearbox oil level sound like gearbox is in limp mode and may need a service

If no one gives you a better answer, you can just disconnect the battery for and hour or somewhat less and it should reset itself. The indicator may come back on if the underlying problem is still there.
