If you want it to work, Jaguar is going to be your only option to program the FOB to the vehicle.
Step1 To program a key fob insert the key and turn to position I.
Step 2
Turn the key to position II and back to I (quickly repeat four times) and you will hear a chime if it was done correctly.
Step 3
Turn the key all the way back and take it out.
Step 4
Now press any button on the key fobs to be added and you will hear another chime.
5. If you have a set of keys for step (4) you have to press any button
on two or more fobs at the same time so they both have the same code or
else one will work and the others wont.

I have tried this and it does nothing. No chime, no nothing. My car has a fob (transmitter) separate from the key. I have one old one and one brand new one. The old one used to work of course. It became harder and harder to use, i.e. you had to push very hard on the button, even though the battery was fresh. I took it apart to clean the contacts, thinking it had Coke or moisture of some kind in it, but that made it worse and eventually it didn't work at all. I bought a new one on line, only to learn that Jaguar would charge $100+ to program it, so I'm trying to figure a different way.
Bought a new transmitter fob for my 2002 Jaguar S-type. I was told that only Jag dealers can program these. They want $100+ to do so. Is there another way? I've tried the 4X position 1 to position 2 procedure and it does nothing on my car.
