Hi,

The starter is situated on top of the transmissin bell housing.

The simple way to look for it is just follow the positive ( + ) cable from your battery. It will be connected to the starter solenoid/starter.

In starting problem, if the engine cranks/turns, it means your starter is going and it is working fine.

When your engine turns and would not run, it means there are some problem on ignition, fuel, electronic, and system.

Hope that helps you out!

2005 Altima won't start, hear clicking sound coming from fuse box,key stuck in ingintion, won;t turn over, tried to jump start.

the clicking that you hear is coming from the starter relay. sounds like your ignition starter switch or ignition lock cylinder is bad.

New battery new starter nothing happens when i turn the key

You definitely have a starting system problem. You have two circuits - Battery to starter circuit & the Starter Control Circuit (Ignition switch, Transaxel Range Switch (if Automatic Trans), Starter Relay, Starter Clutch Pedal Position Switch (if manual Trans) Fuse & Starter Solenoid). Based on your description, the problem is in the Control Circuit.

Here's an illustration:

My car will not turn over, the lights will not turn on, but the battery is 100%, I just had it tested. What would be my next step in problem solving?

Battery cables off the battery and starter ,starter relay and ignition switch. these are the items in the starting system for no crank and no start.
Get Shop manual and do the appropriate testing for each.

2000 hyundai elantra alarm goes off where is the

There is NO kill switch on the 2000 Elantra... HOWEVER, there is a thing called the Key Fob (keyless remote entry system). There is, however, a system in place called the 'starter kill' circuit and it is activated when the burglar alarm goes off.... it's called the burglar alarm relay and it is activated to prevent the engine starter system from being used. There are three ways to get the engine started in such a circumstance... 1. use the key fob to 'disarm' the system... 2. put the key in the ignition and turn it to the 'RUN" position and wait until the alarm stops (horn stops beeping and the parking lights stop flashing), then the engine will start.... 3. pull the starter relay from the UnderHood junction box and bypass the starter circuit (key in ignition and in the 'RUN' position), jumper the starter solenoid circuit to energize the solenoid to start cranking the engine -- it should start then.

2000 elantra starter clicks but will not turn

Firstly - check that your battery is fully charged. Then check the earth (negative) cable connections and make sure they are 100% clean and making contact. Then check the connections to the starter motor - are they tight, clean and making contact? If all is in order then it sounds as if the starter motor needs replacing or overhauling. Because you can hear a click means that it's likely that the solenoid is working ok but there is a dead spot on the commutator. As a final check, get a friend to turn the ignition switch fully clockwise while you tap the body (not the solenoid) of the starter with a hammer. If the starter turns the engine over then you need a replacement/overhaul.
