Gasoline smell when running heater especially when sitting still. Smell seams to be coming through the vents. Also strong smell of gasoline out side of vehicle also. This does not happen all the time and is hard to determine what may cause it. It occurs sometimes when full tank of gas an sometimes when almost empty or even with other levels of fuel.

SOURCE: Burt Toast Smell while running heater

This is caused by in most cases dry tree leaf getting particles into the heating duct through the air intake at the base of the windshield, this material contacts the red hot blower motor speed control resistor and burns, and yes it smells like burnt toast, in order to clean this stuff out u need to remove the blower motor, the material will be in the duct near it. I have seen this cause a fire, so get it checked and cleaned ASAP.

SOURCE: Smell of gasoline fumes

No, thats not true. Theres no real difference in fuel octane.Sounds like you have a leak at the gas tank some where or the fill tube from the gas cap to the tank is crack , loose or not on right..Hope this helps you and have a great day....

Why is my oil smelling like gas ? I own a 2006 pt cruiser

On a 2006 PT Cruiser, there is no direct means for gasoline to enter the crank case, so there should be no liquid gasoline there. Now, you will get a typical crankcase vapor smell (for lack of a better description), especially with higher mileage engines. These are hydrocarbons that have a distinctive smell.
Now; if you suspect gasoline in your crankcase, then take a quart sample of your oil and allow it to sit, sealed and undisturbed for several hours or all night. If there is gasoline, or water, then it will segregate accordingly.
Things to check:
When was the oil last changed?
When was the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) Valve last changed? If this is clogged, the result will be a strong hydrocarbon smell that will increase in intensity since it cannot vent properly. I would lean more in this direction.

I HAVE A 1995 CHEVROLET CAPRICE CLASSIC, UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE OF CAR IT SMELL OF GAS FUMES.

Gasoline or exhaust fumes? If exhaust, you have a leak. If gasoline smell, tank may be over full and vent may be clogged.

Usually if you can smell fuel inside the cabin the vapors are coming in thru the vent system from the engine compartment.
Could be a fuel leak or a problem with the vapor canister.

91 Maxima Gasoline odor when I first start the car

If it is running fine, the busted bolt isn't the source of the gasoline smell. The intake manifold has vacuum, so the smell wouldn't be getting out, air would be going in, and a vacuum leak would give you poor idling. The exhaust manifold wouldn't have much raw gasoline smell. But it would have loud noise if the broken bolt were causing an exhaust leak.

Check that the vapor recovery line is not broken or disconnected. The hose connectors get cracked. If that were broken, it would cause a gasoline smell after the car has been sitting, especially if it has been sitting in the sun, heat driving gasoline vapor out of the tank. It is supposed to condense in the vapor canister, but some escapes if the line is broken. If it is broken, driving would **** out the gasoline from the line and the wind would dissipate the smell.

Or it could be a leaking injector. With the injector cover off, engine idling and cool, you can visually look for raw gas around the injectors and injector rail connections.

Hope this helps.

I overfilled my Jeep Grand Cherokee on my first fill up and now I smell gas every time I fill up. I now stop at the click. I am told it is probably my charcoal filter because I keep smelling gas and the...

The charcoal filter is used to filter fumes from the fuel tank. There is a vent line, that comes from your fuel tank to this filter. (Charcoal canister)

Now since the charcoal filter has been completely soaked with gasoline, it will no longer function as it should. Even with vapors from the fuel tank vent line, the canister only has a working 'life' of so far.
You will smell gasoline in strong amounts until it is replaced.

Can't comment whether it is safe or not. (In my thinking, you are driving around with a charcoal canister, that has a charcoal filter soaked with gasoline. I wouldn't use it this way, but that is just my thoughts)

Gasoline smell in air vents

A gasoline smell is from a leaking hose and you need to find that fast
You could have damaged a gas line during your repair work.
Get your money back on the damper repair. There are no gas dampers on autos.

Gasoline smell from time to time

I have seen a 2004 Grand Am that had a very light leak around one of the fuel injector o-ring seals allowing fuel to seep out onto the lower intake which then vaporize when the engine would get hot making the smell.

Gasoline smell off and on

Have them check EGR tubes, and any hoses, or tubes running to the exhaust. My guess is ones leaking while driving & getting drawn up into the incoming air at the cowl.
