Vw passat My 1999 Passat estate has some very strange creaks and squeeks coming from the front suspension, the car however drives brilliantly and has no detrimental tyre wear.Any ideas?
I also have this on my 1999 model. Got my (VW/Audi) mechanic to repair passenger side last year (all quiet there since) but now driver side also has same noise. This is coming from the front end ball joints at the upper arms. The mechanic will have to change (at least) the top suspension arm (which has connection to the ball joint). This is a job for a couple of hours (at least). Keep in mind, if not repaired, could lead to excessive wear to ball joint and possibly severe mis-allignment and steering problems later. Hope this helps.
